Product Description

Greg Sherman was determined to make the newest addition to the TAKA-Hanson hotel empire a resounding success. Then the hardworking manager met the newest addition to his team: Kimiko Taka, the boss's daughter. She was gorgeous, free-spirited...and strictly off-limits.

When Kimi decided to learn the family business from the ground up, the hotel heiress didn't realize her new job came with an irresistible boss! Greg might have decided that business and pleasure don't mix, but Kimi had already made up her mind about the gift she wanted this special holiday season: a proposal from the man she loved!

1.0 out of 5 stars Needed a story for the readers to care about..., October 11, 2010
By
Joel B. Kirk (Bay Area, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This is the story of Kimi Taka, a gorgeous Japanese girl who grew up in a wealthy family, and Greg Sherman, a Caucasian man who is the manager of a Taka Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.

When Kimi pleads to her father to allow her some responsibility, she is given the opportunity to 'work' and earn respect. However, Greg looks down on Kimi because he feels she never had to work for anything.

He begins to fall for her in the course of the book, but pushes her away metaphorically because his disdain arises; there is also a point in the book where he and Kimi are to kiss, but he again pushes her away because of his disdain.

This is the conflict in the book.

While Kimi is trying to prove her worth or at least show that she is responsible and money doesn't define her, she is waiting for a man (the aforementioned, Greg Sherman) who seems to have some emotional issues; a man who doesn't know what he wants. I was asking, 'Why is Kimi wasting her time?'

There weren't any real stakes. It got to the point to where I was asking 'Why am I supposed to care about these characters?'

Moreover, there needed to be substance to the characters and situation, where it is primarily a case of the exotic Asian female who is desired, or happens to desire the white male hero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kimiko's Kindness, December 1, 2008
I grew to like this hardworking young girl as she just never gave up on her desire to succeed in her work and graduate also much to the surprise of her family.
