A unique twist to all your favorite carols + one to add,
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas (Audio CD)
She sets the traditional carols to different music styles. It really is very unique. I love "Silent Night". She hums the verses and sings the chorus. Somehow it makes you ponder the words & their meaning more. "A Cradle Prayer" is her own. Its so beautiful and worshipful. Here is the chorus: Jesus, I love You, my Lord, my Life. Where would I be without You? Here in the quiet, the still of the night, I am in awe of You

A new twist to traditional Christmas music worth buying.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Christmas (Audio CD)
Rebecca St.James has outdone herself again, this time with Christmas music. This album consists of the Christmas music we hear every year, with a new twist. One creative example of this is taking silent night and humming most of it! Of the whole album, the song that touches my heart the most is "A Cradle Prayer". This, the only original on the CD, is an inspiration and gives a soft hearted view of God as it would have been to be in Bethlehem the night of his birth. Rebecca St.James has a way with words and expresses her heart so genuinely. Definitely worth the price and a great item to add to your Christmas music collection.

"Christmas" Rocks!,
By
This review is from: Christmas (Audio CD)
Rebecca St. James has created a reputation for orchestrating a symphony of guitars, electric or otherwise, drums, strings, synths, and producing an almost girl-punk sound, but for this album, added a small amount of seasonal cheer to old Christmas tunes. A new version of "O Come Emmanuel" with powerful bridges gives the old a new meaning. John Lennon's "War is Over (Happy Christmas)" couldn't be done any better, and I had never even heard "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" until I bought this CD. Surely one of Rebecca's best! If you love to rock, and you love Christmas and you love to buy good CDs, maybe you should think about maybe getting ahold of one of these before next Christmas.

This is a wonderful CD full of upbeat and uplifting Christmas songs with a bit of a twist. I listen to this CD over and over again and never get tired of it. It is very obvious that Rebecca St. James is prayerful, soulful and talented in all that she does.

This is a beautiful Christmas CD!,

I like this CD so much, I listen to it all during the year. As a matter of fact, I am listening to it now! I bought it last year and I think it was wise of me to buy it. She sings the songs differently than you may be use to hearing Christmas songs, but it is cool!

Rebecca St. James' Christmas cd is neither sappy nor traditional. It has crisp lyrics and smooth beats. Songs are well paced and distributed, neither all fast nor all slow. Will appeal to pretty much anybody who has any bit of sentimentality for the Christmas season past or present.

As Only Rebecca Can...,
This review is from: Christmas (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic album. Rebecca puts a unique twist on these classic songs as only she can. It's one of the first albums I listen to when Christmas rolls around and proves without a doubt that Jesus does, in fact, rock! Some of the reviews complain that the music is too hard. I disagree completely. It's celebratory, fun, and energetic. Yes, even a bit surreal at times but there is nothing wrong with that.

Weird and disappointing,
By taralucida (Florida) - See all my reviews

I agree whole-heartedly with one of the other reviewers. This CD is definitely going for the "ethereal" and coming out with eerie. Very disappointing from Ms. St. James, and not a good mix with her already unique (and usually beautiful) voice. Give me the traditional any day.
