Wow! What a great start to this new series by Mackenzie McKade. I could tell a few chapters into the story this was going to be one of those families we would all fall in love with. However, this particular story revolves around Trey and Kelly who are obvious from the start, made for each other. Trey was a great, sweet, sexy guy who's a policeman and a rancher. If you are anything like me, those two words in the same sentence and I'm already there. You won't be able to resist his cowboy charm and sweetness, I guarantee it.

Kelly is a strong independent woman and a very likeable character. She made the best of a difficult situation and didn't whine about it, just dealt with it as best she could. I admired her ability to remain level headed and calm during the first scene in the book, but also when she was put on the hot spot by Trey's father during Christmas. This red-head had just the right amount of spunk and attitude that gained her respect within Trey's family.

Ms. McKade is a great story teller and I really enjoyed both main characters. One of my favorite things about this book was you knew AND they knew what they wanted from the start. Yeah, Kelly was a little hesitant with Trey at first because she had her son to think about and she didn't want to take any chances of anyone trying to take him away from her which is totally understandable, but she never tried to hide her true feelings for him. Also, the Burstyn's had been burned by a woman in their family too, so all parties were cautious but their reactions to the situation were normal, not over the top or annoying. The characters were honest with themselves and each other which was refreshing--no game playing so the story moved along nicely.

Kelly thinks of nothing but her son when a bank robber points a gun at her head. A one night stand ended with a blessing so unexpected, her precious baby boy. Kelly thinks of TJ's father, but since she did not expect to see him again - imagine her surprise when the police officer coming to her rescue is none other then the father of her son.
When Trey responds to a bank robbery he never imagines that police call will change his life forever. Trey looks into the eyes of the witness and sees the woman he thought he would never see again. After the one night stand in Denver, Trey thought of Kelly often. He lost her phone number after that night, and no woman has ever moved him the way Kelley did. Trey decides to stop in to see if Kelly is alright after the robbery and imagine his surprise when he comes face to face with a child who is the spitting image of himself.
This book is a very emotional Christmas read. When I started this book at work today I was unable to put it down. I was sneaking peeks all throughout the work day. I could not wait to get home and finish it. Trey is an awesome hero and dad. And Kelly is a wonderful caring mom who puts her son's needs first. If you want to read a beautiful Christmas story I highly recommend Christmas Showdown.

This story was very well written and had wonderful characters. This is one of those stories that is totally believable. I personally cannot wait for more of this series to come out. Have read many of her books but believe this might be one her best. Thanks Mackenzie.

One of the first books I've ready by MM, and it won't be the last. Liked the story line, and am looking forward to Book 2. Single parent (mom)/father in the dark about child happen upon each other; story grows from there. Enjoyed it.

Great storyline and most believable. The erotic sex scenes are excellent and the characters are very well written. I could relate to them all.

This was a very good story and hot. I hope it's the beginning of a Burstyn Family series, I'm curious about Lance's story and Suz's too.

Kelly McMaster's only one night stand resulted in little TJ, although she tried her best to find Trey, TJ's father with no last name she'd very little to go on. Almost two years later and totally out of the blue they meet again, realising he has a son Trey is furious at first that he's not been told but then as it dawns on him that there was truly nothing else Kelly could have done to find him. He wants TJ in his life, he wants to be a father but not only that he wants Kelly as well.
This is a nice sweet story with likeable characters, Trey's family the Burstyn's are a close family who look after their own, will they accept Kelly and TJ?
This is a nice little read, personally I would have liked more, Kelly's parents for example, more about her life with TJ.
