As a fan of brass music, especially at Christmas, I've acquired cds by the Philadelphia, Canadian, Phillip Jones, Prince of Wales, and London Brass ensembles, all of which I enjoy. However, the Solid Brass album is in a class by itself sonically, revealing great detail in the instruments and a highly realistic sense of the space in which they're being played. The arrangements are excellent as well. A must for audiophiles who enjoy traditional Christmas music.

It was the Bach that got me!, December 13, 2010

Though the other arrangements are just as wonderful, the Wachut Auf arrangement was amazing. As an organist, I'm always weary to arrangements of music meant for the organ to other ensembles, and this chorale is such a classic. Though only three voices, it shows Bach's mastery in its delicate and balanced relationship of the voices.
When I heard the melody come through, I was amazed. For any fan of brass or great music at Christmas or anytime, this is a must to own.
