I have always loved listening to Frank Sinatra's earliest recordings, which define the legendary icon of a singer's voice as pristine, affectionate and charismatic. The Christmas songs in this compilation "Christmas Songs by Sinatra" which was produced by Didier Deutsch in 1994 were recorded between 1948 and 1950 under Columbia Records.

With Axel Stordahl's expertise in arranging and orchestration, and Frank Sinatra's exceptional vocal flair and the backing of Jeff Alexander Orchestra, The Mitchell Boys Choir, The Swanson Quartet and The Bobby Tucker Singers, this Christmas CD is one collection that will never disappoint its listeners. Each Christmas carol is rendered in a very conventional manner and most of the tracks are previously unreleased and alternate takes, which includes "Silent Night," "White Christmas," "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" and "Jingle Bells," to mention but a few. The inclusion of Franz Schubert's classical composition "Ave Maria," and "The Lord's Prayer" made it even more deserving to be in any music lover's collection of Christmas music.

The Christmas season's celebrations would not be as memorable as ever without the meaningful Christmas carols sung by Frank Sinatra most especially "Christmas Dreaming." This compilation is a little short of forty-five minutes, but it is a delightful listen and it surely evokes an old-fashioned Christmas. I merrily recommend it together with a newly-released compilation CD from Frank Sinatra Enterprises, "Christmas Memories."

This is a great collection of Christmas songs sung as only Frank Sinatra could do. My favorites are: "O Come all ye Faithful", "Christmas Dreaming" (a romantic ballad I have never heard before), a swinging verison of "Santa Claus is coming to Town", and a wonderful verison of "The Lord's Prayer".

I got this CD for $5.00 at a store. These are recordings from Frank's days at Columbia Records, so these go back to the 40s. The big band sound is very present on selections like Let it Snow and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. This song would turn up in 1992 on "A Very Special Christmas 2" as a duet with Cyndi Lauper. The selections are nice and soothing. "Christmas Dreaming" is a nice song that never really caught on. Other than Frank, the only other singer I've heard do it is Harry Connick Jr. Ave Maria and The Lord's Prayer are rare cuts and nice touches to add to this collection. If you want to hear a young Sinatra singing holiday favorites, this is the CD for you.

I really like this CD. I like the crooner style for Christmas. Nice selection of songs.

This is a great oldie but goodie. I like the CD except when it was shipped to me the case was cracked. But other than that the disk plays fine and was great during the holidays to help get in the mood for Christmas. Jingle bells and santa clause is coming to town are fun upbeat tracks and silent night is a great classic.

This cd is an interesting alternative to the classic Bing. Over the years I have come to dislike the conformist tone and phoniness of the Bing Christmas CD I grew up with. This one has almost the same songs, and sounds very similar, but the vocals are much less status quo-ish. In addition, the music and background singers are much more interesting, I guess Bing didn't want any competition on his records. Somehow very refreshing and very traditional at the same time.
