This half-scale reproduction of "Dad's" famous "major award" isn't completely accurate (as has been noted here in another review) but for a mere 40 bucks, it's certainly close enough for most Christmas Story fans, including this one! The large-size version by NECA also suffers from the same (minor) inaccuracies, so their half-size version is certainly the better deal if you're hankering to own the classic leg lamp. Something to consider: It's smaller scale will fit nicely on the table between your home theatre recliners and will go well with any other home theatre decor. It certainly does with mine, never failing to draw smiling comments when a new guest first sees it. And your lamp will too. (And my home theatre room is full of other types of movie/tv memorbilia to distract the eye.) So stop vascilating and "award" this classic to yourself (or a loved one) for being a steadfast fan of one of the best holiday movies ever made. And remember: Be sure to ask the seller to mark the package "Fragile" so you too can become "Dad" for a nostalgic moment when it arrives at your door.

The leg is good but not an exact replica. Stockings are not realistic. In the movie the leg went up to the buttocks. Not in the minature.

My brother has been saying for years, in jest, how he'd love to have this ugly lamp to place in the window of his house, for all the neighbors to see. And his wife has sworn that it would never happen...and now she is going to kill us for getting him this for Christmas! What a wonderful and wacky present, from one of the greatest Christmas movies of all time.

My husband's favorite movie is The Christmas Story...he loves the lamp!! I can't wait to see his face when he opens it!

We've been fans of the movie for years, so when I saw this I knew I had to get it for my husband for Father's Day. He absolutely loved it, and it makes everyone who sees it laugh.

I gave this lamp to my mom as a Christmas gift a couple of years ago and it couldn't have been a bigger hit! She adores the movie and because I knew she wouldn't want to display the lamp in her living room picture window at her senior condo complex, that made this 20" lamp perfect for the desk in her home office.

Adding to the fun was the fact that I got a wooden crate to package it in complete with about 50 pounds of finely shredded newspaper. I painted "FRAGILE" (Fra-gee-lay) on the crate lid using some stencils and at first my mom was a little stumped as to what the box could contain, despite watching the Christmas Story 24-hour marathons for years. However, once she started wading through the shredded newspaper, she knew, and after extracting the box the lamp was in from the crate, we had to immediately set up her mini-version of electric sex on her desk. Don't be fooled by the small size of this version of "the" lamp, it still offers plenty of detail.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas as a joke. The Christmas Story is his favorite movie. He loved the lamp SO much that it is a permanant fixture on the table beside his chair in the living room. It is definately a great conversation piece and is small, but more adaptable than the larger version.

I was impressed by the quality of this lamp. The shade is sinfully nice. I did not know you can light the leg, light the lamp, and /or light both. Q'elle deal. It was a gift and it will be used year round because of the size.

Since this was a Christmas gift for my son I was pleased that I received it in time for Christmas Day. Here had often talked about getting this lamp and our family decided to surprise him this year. While watching the "Christmas Story" on Christmas Eve,he mentioned how "cool" it would be to have the lamp,not knowing it would be his on Christmas Day. What a surprise when he opened the front door and spotted a package with "FRAGILE" written on it. He was thrilled.
After taking it home and putting it in the window of his apartment, neighbors having a party nearby all came together outside when someone noticed the lamp.
It was such a hit and prompted a lot of laughs. Thanks again. Jim

In reviewing this product Amazon had me rate it as a toy (educational value, etc.) which does not seem accurate. This is not a toy, but a fun joke lamp for fans of the Christmas Story movie. It is too breakable (and loaded with sexual innuendo) to be given to a child, in my opinion. And educational value... umm, I don't think so.

In any case, gave it to my father-in-law for Christmas and it was a huge hit (and immediately caused a fight between him and my mother-in-law about where it will be put on display - buyer beware!). This is smaller than the true replica, but much more affordable and perfect for that Christmas Story fan who has everything.
