Inspirational
I bought this book for my preschool classroom of 4 year olds...we enjoyed reading this book during the holiday season. The story that unfolds really gave the children a sense of the meaning of Christmas in terms that they could understand. After we finished reading the book, one of my girls asked: "you mean christmas is more than just gifts?"

Nice, but not great
We recently checked this out from the library with extremely high expectations after reading Wildsmith's "The Easter Story." (That is a book a highly recommend.) It was disapointing. There are too many great Christmas stories out there- don't waste time on this one.

Brian Willsmith does such a nice job of bringing the scenes in his books to life, and this one is no exception.The story is very cleverly conceived in bringing a new perspective into the Christmas story. The point of view is of a little girl trying to find Mary and Joseph, so that she can reunite the baby donkey she is carring for, with the mother donkey that Mary rode on. Cute story and nicely put together.

A wonderfully illustrated, wonderfully written story of Christ's birth. The text held our two year olds attention span and the illustrations completely mesmerized her.
