Editorial Reviews

Travelscope heads to Lausanne, Montreux and Basel, Switzerland to bask in the glow of a Swiss-style Christmas at some of the country's best Christmas Markets.  Joseph's adventures include a visit to a Christmas ornament artist, samplings of Swiss culinary specialties, a journey to old St. Nick's village, counting the hours with Lausanne's watchman and a close encounter with Father Christmas himself and his trusty companion the Schmutzli, who's been checking his list to find out who's been naughty or nice.  A full slate of holiday fun is guaranteed for all!

Have you ever wanted to travel abroad for the holidays but just couldn't find they money or time to do it? Well sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds from your own home. The tour guide tries to immerse himself in the culture and I appreciate the efforts he goes to to make me feel like I'm a companion with him on the journey. I felt like the price was a little much for such a short show but in the end it was worth the money as I was transported away for just a few dollars!

Thanks to Amazon Prime and being stuck in the house the past few weeks with killer colds I've watched a LOT of travel videos. Joseph seems like a nice enough guy but this video just isn't that interesting or well made. And it comes with commercials! Hey if Volvo wants to pay for this guy's travels good for them, but I'm not interested. Give me Rudy.

Nothing spectacular, but pretty much as expected. Mostly saw what the local festivals were selling. Better than being there and much cheaper than actually going.

Joe's video celebration of Christmas in Switzerland is a nice addition to the season's charms. Apart from the fab food and drink, and beyond the magical colors that saturate the whole expedition, wait till you get to the bell master! Same for the coda at the end of the tour. Against the odds, Joe waxes eloquent re The True Meaning of Christmas. To wit: the confluence of place, ritual, and relationships (new and old) can revivify our spiritual quest for transcendence.
