Teddy is one busy bear?and he's organized. In the days leading up to Christmas, he's got a sizable list of things to do, from looking in Christmas windows to writing to Santa to hanging his stocking; he's aided in his endeavors by his cat. In this picture book debut, McQuade's teddy bear family is a cuddly threesome rendered in forceful, slightly fuzzy oil portraits. And on each page of text, large bold type announces a fun item on Teddy's agenda, encouraging young readers to recognize their own holiday traditions. Ages 3-7.

Ages 2^-5. Striking oil paintings showing a soft, oatmeal-colored teddy bear getting ready for Christmas make this a perfect vehicle for introducing young children to the rituals of the season. A double-page spread is devoted to each of 12 well-known traditions. Each left-hand page identifies the activity (singing carols, decorating the tree, and so on) in extra-large black type and explains what Teddy and his family do in a couple of short, descriptive sentences. The opposite page is a rich, warm, full-page illustration depicting the bears engaged in the action. Parents are sure to find this a wonderful way to generate excitement for the holiday season, and the oversize pages make the book ideal for group sharing.
