This is an entertaining and informative account of Christmas celebrations through out Texas History, religious or raucous. Many ethnic groups have added to the rich stew that has become Christmas in Texas. Frontier life has made it unique in making secular holiday celebrations such as huge family gatherings, rodeos and all kinds of parades, fairs and dances part of the social scene. Winter is the slower work season in agricultural societies. Recipes reflect the heritage. This book is a treasure!
