Editorial Reviews

Each year, the Christmas concert presented by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square is seen by more than 85,000 people live and by millions more via television broadcast. It is a full-scale production featuring world-class musicians, soloists, dancers, narrators, and music that leaves viewers in awe year after year. This year, the Choir was joined by pop music sensation and platinum recording artist David Archuleta. David s clear and powerful vocals paired with the Choir s classic Christmas sound makes this album a must-have for any Christmas collection.

Christmas music is usually beautiful and special but the music on the CD is absolutely breathtaking! I had chills most of the time while listening to it. David Archuleta is an amazingly talented singer but his voice combined with the beautiful Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra makes this even more special. It really is some of the best music I've ever heard. This will definitely play in my home during the entire holiday season.

I had seen clips of youtube's here and there. But the DVD is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! Its over an hour long. The MO TAB choir is great great and then add DAVID'S voice. I can't explain it. I love good singing but this is truly the best. It gave me goosebumps. Its so close to be in Heaven. Thanks to David for just being David and not letting fame take over his life. Thanks to MO TAB for having him as your guest and thanks to Amazon for selling the DVDS. The price was cheap. If you have not bought this do it today. You want regret it. Thanks Shelia G.

Glad Christmas Tidings features a top notch orchestra, with the incomparable Mormon Tabernacle Choir and a guest vocalist in David Archuleta who will surprise those who only know him from American Idol with his vocal range, power, control and emotional delivery. Together the orchestra, the Choir and Archuleta make classics like Silent Night, Joy to the World and Angels from the Realms of Glory (Angels We Have Heard on High) soar to new heights. You will love the fresh arrangements to songs you have heard many times before. Treat yourself to this great album. If you like it, you should also pick up David Archuleta's Christmas album from a few years ago, Christmas from the Heart. His duet with Charice of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is just beautiful.

I love David Archuleta, and having him sing with motab is nothing short of sublime. But to be honest, I liked his Christmas From the Heart much better... Still, well worth the price.

Love David Archuleta on this CD....this young man has a beautiful voice and a persona to match it. All of his songs on this CD were spectacular, particularly considering it was a live performance. A couple of criticisms: first, on the last number, "Angels from the Realms of Glory", the engineers should have made his voice more prominent towards the end of the song as they did in the other David/Choir selections. A soloist should always be heard above a choir, and it was a bit tough here. Secondly, on some of the MOTAB selections done without David, the words were a bit hard to understand, which I know is a common occurence for large choirs, but otherwise, they were also excellent. I do, however, question a few of the music selections when the Choir sung without David. For a Christmas extravaganza such as this, there possibly should have been a few more well-known songs....All-in-all, an excellent CD.
