I just completed this kit as part of my Personal Progress Award for the LDS church...and WOW did I have a good time with it! Absolutely everything (needles, thread, sequins etc.) was included in the package (so no buying extra stuff--phewf!), and the instructions were so clear that it required little to no previous experience with sewing to complete. It was an engaging and enjoyable activity, and in the end I was left with an absolutely beautiful and amazingly intricate masterpeice to hang on my wall.
Granted, it did take quite a long time to finish: A whole years worth of working on it about 2 hours every Sunday. The wonderful thing was, however, that while it was a lengthly process, I never got bored or considered dropping it for something else. While I had gottten tired of other cross-stich kits and sewing projects I had started on previously, this one kept me interested because the sewing actions were constantly changing. Unlike cross-stitch where you do a lot of repetition of one stitch, I would be sewing on sequins (LOTS and LOTS of sequins...) one minute, connnecting one felt piece with another the next, and all the while seeing project form before my eyes. I definately prefer it to all other types of sewing projects I have attempted thus far.
Lastly, it's actually USEABLE! Where another project would just sit in it's frame on your wall and look pretty, this is interactive and fun for kids! I just know that I'm going to take it with me to college and into my home when I grow up. It has been a really worthwhile experience for me, and I highly recommend it for everyone who's grown bored of other slow-moving repetitious stitchery. Enjoy! :)
