Engaging and Beautiful January 18, 2009
By L. Hale
I just completed this kit as part of my Personal Progress Award for the LDS church...and WOW did I have a good time with it! Absolutely everything (needles, thread, sequins etc.) was included in the package (so no buying extra stuff--phewf!), and the instructions were so clear that it required little to no previous experience with sewing to complete. It was an engaging and enjoyable activity, and in the end I was left with an absolutely beautiful and amazingly intricate masterpeice to hang on my wall.

Granted, it did take quite a long time to finish: A whole years worth of working on it about 2 hours every Sunday. The wonderful thing was, however, that while it was a lengthly process, I never got bored or considered dropping it for something else. While I had gottten tired of other cross-stich kits and sewing projects I had started on previously, this one kept me interested because the sewing actions were constantly changing. Unlike cross-stitch where you do a lot of repetition of one stitch, I would be sewing on sequins (LOTS and LOTS of sequins...) one minute, connnecting one felt piece with another the next, and all the while seeing project form before my eyes. I definately prefer it to all other types of sewing projects I have attempted thus far.

Lastly, it's actually USEABLE! Where another project would just sit in it's frame on your wall and look pretty, this is interactive and fun for kids! I just know that I'm going to take it with me to college and into my home when I grow up. It has been a really worthwhile experience for me, and I highly recommend it for everyone who's grown bored of other slow-moving repetitious stitchery. Enjoy! :)

Really cute December 12, 2010
By toph
I enjoyed the work on this so while it did take a while to complete (about a month working a few hours a day) it wasn't tedious and went quickly. I found the quality to be good- how much quality can you really expect from felt? I made this 3 years ago and it's held up just fine each Christmas. In fact, it is hanging on our wall as we speak for it's 4th year in a row. My daughter, now 8, looks forward to pulling this out every year and it really starts the Christmas excitment in our house. The pockets are big enough to hold a small piece of candy/chocolate (I use Hershey's kisses/krakle, etc). It's a cute/functional decoration.

I don't mind putting in a lot of work to create a lovely product, but with this kit it only took a few hours to realize that even with taking the time to do it well, it would still only end up an average looking craft project. True, it's nice to have all of the materials already assembled, counted, plotted, and ready to go, but if you are looking for something that you can bring out year after year and hand down to the next generation - this isn't it. I'll keep working on it to completion (obviously not for this year), but I don't expect it will remain with our family decorations more than a year or two (max).
