A classic Christmas story for the whole family.,
By
This review is from: The Christmas Tree (Hardcover)
As the chief gardener of Rockefeller Center in New York City the narrator of our story has a colossal job ahead of him each year at Christmas Days end. Another year begins and he is already scouting out possibilities for the next years most perfect tree to decorate the prestigious Center for all to take pleasure in.It is when the perfect tree is found on the Bush Creek Convent grounds that his job gets just a little bit harder. Sister Anthony unfolds a splendid Christmas tale that will leave the reader with a story you will want to share with the whole family. I can see this book easily becoming a family tradition. Heartwarming and wonderful a 5 star Christmas tale for certain. Kelsana@yahoo.com 12/25/01

A Charming, Well-written and Illustrated Fictional Story,
By B. Jean Strong (Northwest Arkansas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Christmas Tree (Hardcover)
I really enjoyed this book which I found on our local library shelf, and intend to buy a copy for myself. It would make an excellent gift.It is a gem. Charming, well-told story. Beautiful, pastel-colored illustrations that greatly add to the charm. I once worked in the old Time-Life Building in Rockefeller Center, New York City, and looked down on the Christmas Tree eight years running, but I would have enjoyed this book if I had never seen the The Tree from on high and at ground level.

Just the Thing,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Christmas Tree (Hardcover)
I am buying several of these books as Christmas presents this year. In the wake of September 11, I think a wonderful, magical story about New York City is just what we need. To believe again in beauty, magic and the gift of connection and love. It is a story about connections, relationships -- between New York City folks and their tree, Sister Anthony and the gardener, her tree, and her past. It is a wonderful (sometimes teary) story that makes us appreciate the magic that still exists in the world and is personified at its best through the wonderful Rockefeller Center Christmas tree!

The Christmas Tree,

This is one of my favorite books. This and the Christmas Box. I have read both and I have the video of The Christmas Box. I also saw a movie on TV that was The Christmas Tree which is based on the book. However, I cannot find the video in the any of the department stores or video stores. I know I saw it and would love to add it to my collection. Please help me if you know where I can get it. Thanks, Frances M.

My favorite holiday book,
By
This review is from: The Christmas Tree (Hardcover)
This is perhaps my favorite of all our holiday books, and we have many! I just stumbled across it again today while organizing our decorations, and even in the hot Georgia June weather I couldn't resist sitting down and reading the entire thing again. This is a beautiful story, and the ending is marvelous. Everyone should own a copy and read it over and over!

Simple and elegant, sentimental and spiritual, this bookwill touch your soul without preaching. An easy read (I devoured it in less than an hour), it took me another hour to recover. Ms. Salamon's convincing prose and Ms. Weber's whimsical artwork have collaborated on one destined to become a classic. If you like to give books as gifts, this one will satisfy young or old, rich or poor, well-read or slow-read, male or female. It's hard to believe this small of a package could deliver such a miracle. There is no excuse for not reading this one!

*wipes tear from corner of my eyes*,

I saw the 2006 Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center and felt compelled to read this little book that packs a huge punch. As a New Yorker, I delighted in the setting. The author writes with such visual details, personifying nature, amd the scenes came vividly alive in my mind as I was reading along. And this lovely story provides a gentle reminder of the lessons life has to offer and of the little joys we miss seeing or listening to thoughout the pressures and fast pace of our daily lives.

A true "Feel Good" Story,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Christmas Tree (Hardcover)
This is a book that young and old alike can really get into. It's very easy to read. It's the type of book you can sit down with in a big comfy chair, grab a cup of hot chocolate and escape all of the commercialism of the holidays and just feel warm and wonderful inside. Even those that don't read often due to lack of time...you can get through this one in about an hour or so. DO take the time to read this one. You'll be glad you did!

It is a good book and I enjoyed reading word for word. The story reminds me of the Christmas celebrations with my family in my country. I was deeply moved and brought back good memories as well as sad memories. I will recommend the book to anyone who likes to remember cherished times with family.
