Book Description

Lucy Collins has given up on Christmas since the painful break-up with her fiance. Things only get worse when a large newspaper is about to come to town and threatens the livelihood of their family run business, The Turtle Creek Newspaper. At the staff Christmas party, she makes a wish and what seems like the answer to her prayer walks in the front door to apply for the editor position, which they are hoping will bring new life to the paper. Not only is Joe McNamara a genius when it comes to the written word, but he is also gifted with ideas about keeping the newspaper afloat. However, Joe has a secret of his own that he is keeping from Lucy. If she finds it out, then what looks like a promising relationship will unravel, but it's Christmas time, the season of rebirth and miracles. Will the spirit of celebration be enough to heal two hearts? Or will the reality of deception make this the worst Christmas of all?

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful Christmas story, November 27, 2008

Jenny Blake "Ausjenny" (Naracoorte South Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Christmas Edition (Turtle Creek Edition, Book 1) (Paperback)
This is a wonderful Christmas story. Its the first in a series of books set in Turtle Creek. I love the fact its set in a small rural town as I also live in a small rural town (only my town is bigger).
Lucy isn't looking forward to Christmas as it has bad memories for her. Enter Joe who makes her feel differently about Christmas. I love how Robin has written this book leaving you wanting to know more. I needed to know Joe's story and didn't want to put the book down till I found his story. I love how Robin did this. I wanted to know more about Lucy also. I wasn't disappointed in this story. If you enjoy Christmas stories and reading about peoples lives you wont be disappointed reading this book, it was like a glimpse into a smaller community and how a small newspaper is more like family than a group of employees.
I cant wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christmas Comfort Food in a Book, November 23, 2008
This review is from: The Christmas Edition (Turtle Creek Edition, Book 1) (Paperback)
Look no further for your next cozy, snow-laden atmospheric romance--It's here, in Robin Shope's "The Christmas Edition." With characters likeable enough to watch on a weekly sit-com, you'll be feeling right at home with the people who fill these pages, and enjoying the journey of getting to know them better as the story unfolds. Ms.Shope will manage to make you certain there are some deep secrets that must be dastardly, indeed--but the ending will leave you with that feel-good lift that is so enjoyable in a book. With this one, you'll want to make some hot cocoa and snuggle up in a comfy chair.

The Wild Rose Press would do well to help its authors by keeping their copy clean and error free, but I certainly look forward to reading this author's next works. And I'd love to see more of the two main characters in this book, Lucy and Joe.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderfully Warm Story with a bit of Mystery, August 19, 2009
By
Love 2 Read Novels "Sherry" (a small town in Kansas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Christmas Edition (Turtle Creek Edition, Book 1) (Paperback)
The Christmas Edition was a wonderfully warm story although you could sure feel a nip in the air. The story centers around two main characters, Lucy Collins and Joe McNamara. I just loved Lucy and her family. It made me want to live in Turtle Creek. And Joe was such a yummy hero. There was so much mystery surrounding him that I absolutely had to keep reading and find out what his story was and how it was connected with Lucy. The secondary characters were very quirky and fun. Robin made me feel like I was right there. I could almost reach out for a drink of hot chocolate. Don't wait 'til Christmas to read your edition of the book, read it now. I promise you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to read The Valentine Edition.
