This is the best movie!,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Christmas Visitor (DVD)
Not only does this movie have great actors in it, but it also has a story line that will touch your heart. "A Christmas Visitor" is a story about a family struggling to deal with not only the death of their son who died in action in the Gulf War, but with the possibility of their daughter having brest cancer. The family has not celebrated Christmas ever since their son died because when the news about their son arrived, it was 2 days before Christmas, until a mysterious visitor arrives and tells them what the meaning of Christmas is all about. This movie will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. One minute you'll be overjoyed and the next, your feelings will be crushed by something so overwhelming in the movie. This movie will take you from the edge of your seat, into the lives and hearts of these characters and will show you how they are so devoted to their son that they will even give up a Christmas in order to preserve and keep the memories of their deceased son. This is a tearjerker especially when they show flashbacks of their son and his life, but if you are really into a great movie, I fully recommand it. You won't regret it. This movie will teach you about family and love in the face of ruin and sadness and it will show how love and faith can withstand anything.

Fatastic Family Movie!,

William Devane was fantastic in this movie, as usual! The movie has it all...drama,intrigue, excitement, tears, humor, romance, patrioticsm and the Christmas Spirit! Although a little predictable, it is still a wonderful movie the entire family can watch! It isn't often you see a movie that leaves you with a good feeling in your heart!!!! This is one of those movies! A great movie to see anytime, not just at Christmas! A wonderful, thought-provoking movie for those who have a lost a loved one in the war!

The "Holidays" seem to be synonmous with "family". For this family, there are no more holidays because their son was killed in the Gulf War. You don't have to have lost a loved one to understand the emotions in this story. There's only a few characters but they play their parts superbly. My favorite Christmas movie.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: A Christmas Visitor (DVD)
This is a sad and touching Christmas movie about a family who hasn't celebrated Christmas for years. They had stopped celebrating Christmas because only a couple of days before Christmas the last time they had their tree, and decorations up they had found out that their son had been killed in the Gulf War. It is several years later and their daughter may have cancer and a mysterious stranger shows up saying that he knew their son and he helps them to have faith and to rediscover the true meaning of Christmas and there is a nice surprise at the end of this movie. Get out the tissues or hankies for this one!

Great Christmas movie. Good actors. Nice twist at the end.
It was kinda hard to make sense of this movie, until the last 15 minutes.....than you know what is really going on. Throughout the entire movie, the son had plenty of opportunities to reveal to his dad that he had never been killed in Iraq. He could have revealed himself to Dad in the pickup shortly after Dad's near car accident. He could have revealed himself while him and dad were buying the Christmas tree, when Dad tells "the visitor" his son's name...and when his Dad tells "the visitor" his son's company while he was stationed in Iraq. He could have revealed himself during his conversation with his sister and mother while at the house on Christmas Eve. I kept wondering, why doesn't the guy reveal that he never died in Iraq? Unless he was planning something elaborate to reveal himself as their son on Christmas morning....as a Christmas present...like a family reunion of sorts. So, why won't he just reveal himself? So, it would have to make absolute sense that he was an angel, sent down from God to pay a visit to his family. Those 15 minutes are what this movie is all about, and explains everything that didn't appear to make sense. That last scene when dad salutes his son is classic, and brings tears to the eyes. The sister also receives good news that she doesn't have cancer. It was bittersweet...and sad in some parts....but not too sad. It was also uplifting as well.

A good Christmas movie that renews hope and faith. A family learns to put the past behind and look ahead. It helped me to work on keeping things in proper prospective.

Without being "smarmy," this film deals gently with a grieving family's return to celebrating Christmas when a "stranger" enters their lives. It's a moving story with some interesting twists. Having lost our son in much the same way, this serves viewers as a sweet reminder that Christmas will continue to be a time to celebrate and to honor the memory of those we love by doing those things which THEY loved so much.
