5.0 out of 5 stars I almost died from Shock when I saw this, December 8, 2001

Several years ago, my brother got a computer with a CD burner on it. I asked him if it was possible to burn albums onto CDs. Well, after trial and error, we were able to hook up a phonograph to this high-tech computer. The reason I wanted to try it: So I could get Bert Kaempfert's Christmas Wonderland on CD. At the time, it was unavailable.

I don't know what it is about this album that made it a staple in so many homes in the 1960s and 1970s. I remember my late father telling me he thought it was because it was one of the first commercially-successful Christmas albums that could be played anywhere because it didn't have vocals. Seems like a good deduction to me.

I can NOT believe how happy I am to have a REAL copy of this album in my collection now. My fear was my children would never hear the classic renditions of Mr. Kaempfert. Now I can sit back and relax.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Joyful Seasonal Collection!, December 4, 2001

You can tell as soon as you see the cover of this CD that this is going to be something different. The snow-laden tree looks like a person with a scarf around his neck. Big deal, huh? In this case, yes. Once you listen to these finely arranged and performed tunes, you can see why this is one of the finest Christmas collections to add to your collection.
Bert's trademark sounds have never been utilized so brilliantly as in this collection. Along with his delightful treatment of such standards as "Winter Wonderland," "White Christmas" and even the tiresome "Little Drummer Boy," you get the bonus of some outstanding Kaempfert originals including the title track and the absolutely infectious "Jingo Jango."
I have always loved this collection; I purchased it on vinyl on its first release way way back; and was overjoyed when it was finally made available in CD. In fact, thank the Lord for Kaempfert's library of outstanding music being out there for us to enjoy on CD.
This is a great instrumental Christmas gift to yourself!

It's truly not Christmas without Bert Kaempfert. My parents had this album in the 60's, I bought it in the seventies and was limping along with a tape of the album until this year, when (horrors!) it vanished in a move. I am so thrilled to find it on CD - so happy I ordered 2! Highly recommended.

I have proudly taken this gem out every Christmas since I got it way back when. The arrangements here are superb, classic Bert. All arrangements are wonderul, and this album, along with the Christmas Album from the Hollyridge Strings, are forever to be played at that special time of year, as long as I'm around!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, December 19, 2001

This record has been a staple every Christmas for my family since the 1960's. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it on CD. This was the first (hi-fi) Christmas record my parents ever bought, and possibly some of the most popular background music for Christmas radio spots and even television commercials during the 60's and 70's. It is the perfect background music to any Christmas party due to the lack of vocals, yet keeps you awake with several up beat Jazzy tunes.

I grew up on this Christmas music. I was quite disappointed when I could not find Bert Kaempfert's Christmas Wonderland in ANY music stores (not even to order). The 12 inch vinyl album that my parents used to play at Christmas time was worn out years ago. Since then I have had to go without hearing Bert Kaempfert during the holidays. I was so happy when I got to hear this again. Thank goodness for Amazon.com! Thank you for selling this title!

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming, delightful Christmas music!!, November 19, 2000
This review is from: Christmas Wonderland (Audio CD)
Bert Kaempfert produced the Beatles, wrote "Strangers in the night" for Sinatra, "Danke Schon" for Wayne Newton, and had a number one hit with "Wonderland by night". He was a tasteful producer, gifted composer, and an excellent orchestra leader. His best music was in the early 60's when he wrote a string of very happy-go-lucky instrumentals such as "That happy feeling" which featured an irresistable bass guitar that just bounced gaily along with the melody. That became a formula eventually, however, and his music began to tire by the late 1960's and he was dropped by his record company although he continued to be popular in his native Germany. Before he began to rely on a formula, though, he did this Christmas album, which is a delight. Sure, it is elevator music, but with an infectious beat, delightful and simple melodies, and irresistable arrangements. This is the sort of well done and uncomplicated music that makes Christmas music so endearing year after year. This is one of the top ten Christmas albums of all time as far as I am concerned - along with Johnny Mathis, Bing Crosby, Andy Williams and the Time-Life Chistmas double Album (which seems to have every song you could possibly want). Create a yearly tradition in your family by buying this album. It will become something you will want to hear year after year!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Christmas Memories, December 8, 1998
This review is from: Christmas Wonderland (Audio CD)
Bert Kaempfert blends his own special style to Christmas favorites. His "Sleigh Ride" and "Winter Wonderlands" are the best arrangments I have ever heard. From my father down to my children today, no Christmas celebration is complete without this classic.
