5.0 out of 5 stars Bangin'!, December 23, 1999

Duce starts rippin'. CD's grippin'. Joint'z equippin'. Radar's blippin'. Got 'em sippin'. Headz be flippin'. Christian hip-hop has been bumped up in stature with The Ambassador's solo release (the first to come from the Cross Movement). This thing rips lidz rugged, uppin' the standard of the Lord Jesus big time with its clear, forceful, prophetic street style. The Lord said, I know where ya live (Rev. 2:13), and this album demonstrates He's got your block in mind. Gotta thank Ya Lord, for this brutha'z unashamed love for Ya and for those You 'n him want so much to reach. I clearly hear Your heart through his and am emboldened and encouraged in my own to move closer to Ya by movin' out to the spots You wanna get to but which most don't seem to want to go. Been through this CD about 30 times (no exaggeration) and I'm still being delighted, surprised and amazed at its depth and ingenuity. Tremendous spiritual authority co-mingled with street authority in a hype-no-static mix-t'ya.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mom's approval, November 21, 2000

I bought this CD for my 12 year old who is just starting to be interested in music. We were very concerned about all the junk out there, and we decided to check out christian rap. He loves it!! Mom and Dad love it! This is a talented, blessed man who weaves in the everyday venacular with scripture and truth that comes from studying God's word and being guided by the Holy Spirit. Mom and Dad have not found any faulty doctrine(we listened carefully over and over). It is now a family CD because my heart is blessed by hearing this young man sing love songs to GOD and to those who enjoy the beat. Parent's should have no reservation about any track on here. GOOD STUFF TRUE STUFF!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic, January 20, 2000

This is the best hip-hop CD to drop since Nas' "Illmatic." Period. Christian, secular, underground, mainstream, east coast, west coast, whatever. "Christology..." is the above and beyond anything I've heard in five years, maybe more. The production surpasses outstanding (the Ambassador himself produced much of the album). The lyrics are thoughtfully written, tightly woven and consistent. It's clear that this man knows both his hip-hop and his God. I didn't think The Cross Movement could possibly surpass "House of Representatives" in terms of production and lyrical/content quality, but the Ambassador has almost single-handedly done just that. Buy it and spread the word.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD- In Dwayne's terms, February 16, 2000

With this being the third installment of the Cross Movement Anthology, my expectations were very high. Did this album meet my expectations? In the words of Curly Joe, "Certainly". Ambassador is the storyteller of the group so I knew he wouldn't stray from his signature style. He hits us with "phat joints" after "phat joint". Songs like "Hold Your Ground", "Apologetics" and "Products" puts you in the mindset of a soldier. Even though it's a rap LP, Ambassador shows his passion for God with "Psalms 23", "Honor and Glory" and the ever so lovely, "I Love You Jesus". "Thug Joint" is the most illustrative song on the album. This song describes the conviction that "William" feels when he is doing his own "thang" out there on the streets. He paints a clear picture of the transforming power of "Yahweh, and how he gets busy like a rush hour highway." This song puts you in the mindset of "Off the Hook", a song on the House of Reps Lp. If you want a layed back jam, check out "Loophole". There are so many delights on this album that one could go on and on about it. I will say that the Ambassador really ministers on "Christology" and leaves little doubt to whom he is refering to on his songs. BUY THIS ALBUM. You won't regret it. Especially if you love Christian Hip Hop.

5.0 out of 5 stars Da Cross Movement Does It Again!, November 25, 1999
By
It's Solo Ambassador in Cross Movement Records latest release, Christology. The messages and beats are both on point without the use of explisive lyrics to make up for creativity. The Cross Movement be rollin like cars, this album shines like a star, never thought that Jesus Christ would take'em this far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless Classic - Secular or Christian, July 30, 2006
This review is from: Christology (Audio CD)
Just a few days ago, I picked up this album in a Christian book store. I saw it kind of on its side, and there was only one copy left. When I picked it up and looked at it, the first thing that happened was my heart rate kind of jumped, because I knew I just picked up a classic.

First off, I had a hard time putin the cd away after I listened to the WHOLE THING Top to Bottom. Ambassador remains to be one of the top dogs on Holy Hip Hop. His wordplay, especially on Christology, is second to none. His use of metaphors can be compared to any one you want. Holy Hip Hop, just hit a new standard with this album. (Even though it was released in 1999)
Everything from the production, to the flow, to the sound, its Timeless.

Before I baught Christology, I had purchased his second album, The Thesis, and I thought he brought it on Thesis. But once I heard Christology, Hip Hop was put on a new level. I have over 60 some HHH albums ( I know its not that big)
but this one goes with the 2 or so that I have, that are Classics. I mean everything about it gives glory to our Maker, and Savior. It makes most Christian rap look whack!
Most of all, I feel convicted in the ways Im livin life. I hear what Ambassador says, and I think, whoa, I need to change this, or think more about that. I feel like I just wanna get close to God, and study his word more! I had a great feeling when I was just sitting there, and listening to the album!

Its one of the most theologically deep, but (Laymen's Terms) most applyable album you can buy. This album is rare, I feel blessed to have it as a part of my collection. Trust me, you dont find many of these around these days. Hip Hop today, for the most part, except for a few MC's, is mostly poluted, which most of us know. This album, could possibly be one the best Christian rap cd's that Holy Hip Hop has to offer. Even 7 years after this came out, you dont find much like it.

Its worth EVERY dime you pay. Don't hesite to pick it up.
Feed your Faith, and your Hip Hop/Rap desire, dont settle for the Mediocre stuff. Get fed for Christ. Ambassador does not dissapoint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ministry Through Rap, September 16, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Christology (Audio CD)
I was very impressed by this CD. I highly recommend this CD to any Christian because of its high ministry content, which is delivered through rap. I especially recommend this to any Christian that does not like rap. This CD will probably change your mind or at the very least get you to realize that music takes many forms even in the same "style."

The music is great! Once more, you can understand what is being said. You can get a picture in your mind as the rappin' is goin' on. There is no question as to this being a Christian CD. Jesus is definitely identified and praised. Though this is rap, this is by no means one of those cross-over things.

You can "feel" the ministry from this CD and you immediately get the impression that these guys are serious about ministry through music. The music will have you bouncing in your seat, dancing on your feet, and praisn' Jesus in the streets. It's a great CD and again I highly recommend it. Just get it and you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like McDonald's Fries, He's The Best Thing On The Menu..., October 9, 2000
This review is from: Christology (Audio CD)
William Branch (A.K.A. The Ambassador) has come through in the clutch, right when I was kinda-sorta into the Christian hip-hop thing with the 1987-92 DC Talk (they're rock/pop now), Grits, and E-Roc, but wasn't willing to move on any further. After hearing The Ambassador, I picked up John Reuben, KJ-52, Ill Harmonics and Knowdaverbs (all of who you people should really check out). Since he's a member of The Cross Movement, you know this album is gonna be tight. Obviously the most gifted of the group, The Ambassador rips thru sweet beats with thought-provoking lyrics, and a solid rhythm. It's great to see God in the mix, and even some humor (Thug Joint- "I bumped into a kid so soft, I thought his name should be "Pumpkin" or "The rap group got under my skin like a tattoo" ). I counted my favorite joints before I wrote this review and got 10, and though it's hard, I'll narrow it down to 5 (in order)-

1. One Two

2. Girl Named World

3. Thug Joint

4. Loophole

5. Honor & Glory

If you're gonna get this, pick up The Cross Movement's first two releases "Heaven's Mentality" and "House Representatives," and also their latest- "Human Emergency." Please don't miss out on great Christian hip-hop here, people! Put all the secular stuff to the side, go to your nearest Bible Bookstore, and try Ambassador and The Cross Movement for a spell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bangin' Beats and REAL Christian Lyrical Artistry, March 26, 2000
By
E (New Jersey) - See all my reviews

My first introduction to Christian rap was truly an eye-opening experience with Chrystology in Laymen's Terms. Not only did I find that TRUE hip-hop could manifest itself in Christian rap, I found that I was actually feeling it. The beats are top-notch, head-bobbin' trunk busters, while the Ambassador's lyrics are heart-felt expressions of his devotion to our Lord, Jesus Christ. With this music, not only can you enjoy hip-hop, you can praise our Lord and Savior. This album is HIGHLY recommended for not only Christian rap fans, but for ALL hip-hop junkies as well.
