5.0 out of 5 stars Classic! One of the 80's must haves!, December 2, 2010
This review is from: Christopher Cross (Audio CD)
This album is a flashback of the time when music was still produced and engineered by humans and not computers. When sound, vocals, and music were all important in a great recording. Where special sound effects and recording techniques were creative, difficult, and time consuming.

Nice arrangements and great musicians. Michael McDonald fits in as perfectly here as he ever did with Steely Dan or the Doobie Brothers. Nice jazz feel throughout the album. "Ride Like the Wind" is one of those songs you really don't hear on the radio unless you have a Smooth Jazz station in your area. Also nice guitar playing by Jazz legend Larry Carlton.

"Never Be the Same" is another classic that brings back memories.

It was nice to have something different at this time period after disco and punk nearly destroyed everything. Gone were most of the greatest Progressive Rock and Jazz Fusion bands that were and are still my favorites. Only a few survived. This album was really different in it's day and still sounds fresh and original.

One of those unique albums that really cant be compared to anything else.

Stands the test of time!

Listening to this CD brought back many fond memories of my youth when I enjoyed it then! My favorite all time track on this album will always be "Sailing". If you loved this song you may also like his other tracks too.

I bought the original vinyl back in 1979 and was genuinely blown away. After not hearing it for 15 years, and after a recent listen, I was blown away again. What a great 1st album this was for Christopher Cross. He garnered several Grammy awards from this album and was well on his way to becoming the next new sensation....well that never happened.

The album is still a maserpiece, and belongs in everybody's collection!!
