The Christopher Killer,
By
This review is from: Christopher Killer: Forensic Mystery 1 (Hardcover)
Want to motivate teens to read instead of playing video games? This book is the answer!!! As a reading tutor for teens with reading disabilities, I recommend The Christopher Killer whole heartedly for everyone! It has every thing that appeals to the CSI enthusiasts in all of us but deals in "real world" family issues with honesty and integrity. Can't wait to read the next one and get all of my students involved.

This review is from: Christopher Killer: Forensic Mystery 1 (Hardcover)
Ferguson is back in the YA mystery market with this accurate and graphic forensic murder novel. Colorful, well-drawn characters are appealing to teens. Camryn Mahoney serves as assistant to her father who is the coroner in a small Colorado town. When her friend and co-worker is murdered, Camryn uses forensic clues to catch the culprit. Ferguson has spun a engrossing story that will have us waiting for future entries in this series.

I truly enjoyed reading this book, cover to cover. The accuracy of the forensics was facinating for me. It is so wonderful to have decent books available for young people and adults to read. I will be recommending this book to many others. Thank you Mrs. Ferguson!

This book was a great read that I just couldn't put down (I read it in just under two days!). If you like shows like Without a Trace or the movie The Usual Suspects you'll love this book. I'd recommend it to any fan of murder mysteries.

Dead Man Floating....so gross!,
By Caren Cowan "Love Good Young Adult Reads" (Parachute, CO United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Christopher Killer: Forensic Mystery 1 (Hardcover)
Fabulous book! The detail of the dead man floating with maggots crawling under his skin.....I could actually see it. I really enjoyed every page of this great story. I loved the autopsy. I was proud of Cameryn for asking about the odor and the skin color after the Dr. tried to intimidate her to silence. Can't wait to start the second book.

Nancy Drew meets CSI, full of suspense,
By K. Perkins (Great Britain) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christopher Killer: Forensic Mystery 1 (Hardcover)
This book reminded me a lot of Nancy Drew, but ten times better. The story takes place in the small town of Silverton, Colorado. Cameryn Mahoney is the daughter of the town's coroner, and wishes to follow in her father's footsteps. She finally convinces him to allow her on as his assistant and soon enough a dead body is found in the mountains.
Cameryn misses nothing, taking into account even the smallest details that in the bigger picture don't quite add up for her. Who is the malicious Christopher Killer? Could it be one of her friends? Cameryn's determined to find the killer and her fortitude leads to a suspenseful ending. This book doesn't skim on the forensics; Alane Ferguson makes the science real. You can tell she's done her research. A must read for those who love mystery and suspense.

Good Mystery Read for Teens,
By Jarima "Jarima" (Pittsburgh PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Christopher Killer: Forensic Mystery 1 (Hardcover)
The Christopher Killer by Alane Ferguson is a well-written and logical science vs. pseudoscience mystery whose heroine is a female high school "nerd" who wants to be a forensic pathologist. The story has a lot of colorful western small town personalities, along with a serial killer to keep the plot moving. Much of the plot interaction is among high school students, which should make this book especially suitable for teen readers --- especially girls. No "saucy stuff", just a good mystery read!

I found Christopher Killer to be both intriguing and educational. What fun it was to witness the inside world of forensics and be pulled along by an intricately woven tale of suspense and mystery. Not just for teens!

A Great Read!,
This review is from: Christopher Killer: Forensic Mystery 1 (Hardcover)
Really enjoyed this book!! Ferguson has a keen ability to bring life to the characters while bringing forth a wealth of information on a variety of topics. Forensics to Family politics, it has it all. I really attached to the characters, except of course the dead ones! But actually a bit to them as well. My time was well spent with this one. I look forward to reading more of her work!
