If you are a fan of Christopher Wool's artwork then this is certainly a must purchase book. It is the official catalog for his mid-career retrospective and the most current overview of his to date. When I buy an art book like this I usually am already a fan of the particular artist and am mainly looking for a comprehensive collection of images in one volume. However this book is almost like a very long essay with many of the images intermingled with text and there is not a significant 'well' of full page images which is what I want. The older 2008 Taschen retrospective book was better but it's also five years old. There's not really any alternative to this book, though, so for Wool fans recommended with reservations. Hope this review helps a little in making your decision!

It's a good book, I'm happy to have it to refer to - but so much of the power of his work comes from its scale that it's difficult to be interested in the images. Interesting writing about a pretty good artist.

I saw the exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC, and wanted to have a record of the images. That's a good enough reason to purchase a book with many, many images.
