I have had this knife for five or six years, and the only issue I've had is that the small red insert on one side of the handle came off. It's purely an appearance issue, and had I been paying attention at the time I'm sure I could have glued it back on.

As others have said, the knife is extremely light and takes an edge sharper than just about anything I've ever used. It's possible that folks reporting that it has a "non-stick" coating are correct, but I don't really notice that.

Bottom line: this knife replaced the 10" Sabatier I'd been using for a decade previously as my general-purpose knife. It's not a substitute for a cleaver, but used properly it seems like it will last forever.

By far the best knife I have. All of my knives have been Wusthof's and this one retired all of them to my knife rack at home. Don't get me wrong Wusthof's are great knives. Atleast as long as you are willing to put in the considerable amount of work it takes to keep them sharpened. Also you have to keep them and all other "stainless" steel knives cleaned and dried after every use because they can and will develope rust. The titanium coating these knives have protects them so cleaning them isn't necessary. Ofcourse it's so beautiful that I find myself constantly cleaning it just to stare at the blue finish. The knife is also very light and comfortable to hold " especially if you like to pinch the blade." The Japanese stlye blade itself is also a lot thinner which helps it to glide right through whatever I am cutting.

I was very pleased with this knife it works very well and feels good in the hand. the titanium coating really helps food not to stick and build up on the blade. the blade comes razor sharp. the only downside if there is a down side to this knife is that the handle is made of a plastic material but it does for very well to the hand and provide plenty of grip.

My husband actually bought me a smaller Kasumi knife as a Christmas gift. It is only about 5" but it has a blade shape of a chef's knife, so a review under this knife seems to be the best fit. And I felt the need to review it since I am so attached--one could even say loyal to it. First of all, I had no idea that these Kasumi knives were so expensive. So I had no bias. We have some decent heavy German (Wusthof) knives that are good quality, so I didn't even understand why my husband bought me a knife. I didn't use it much at first, but slowly over time I started reaching for it. Eventually I noticed it was the only one I reached for. I asked myself why and realized it is because it is strong and sharp, but most of all it is LIGHT and fits my hand so comfortably. I would however like a bigger knife as well, and I'm telling you I am eyeing this one. I wish it weren't so expensive or I would have bought it already!

Pretty and functional. Great knife, though did not come as sharp as I was lead to believe.
