This muslin serves very well as a white backdrop for portrait and product photography. It is well constructed-- its sleeve for the backdrop crossbar is nicely sewn and should hold up to lots of installations. The muslin itself is thinner than others that I have used-- although that is to be expected given it's comparatively low price. Also, if you choose muslin as a backdrop, be prepared to manage wrinkles... It's just the nature of the beast. Storage of muslins of this size is always a tricky proposition. If you fold them then you end up with "fold wrinkles" that are harder to deal with. You can attempt to roll the muslin, but unless you can suspend the roll or store the roll on-end then you will still end up with odd wrinkles when you unroll it as the weight of the roll compresses the material on the bottom of the roll. I choose to store mine in old zippered blanket bags-- just stuff the muslin in by bunching it up bit by bit. This at least yields a random wrinkle pattern when it is set up, which is more pleasing to the eye than a patterned wrinkle pattern. Good use of flash can often minimize/eliminate the wrinkles, especially on a white backdrop where you can sometimes blow out the white completely to make them disappear.

I'm very pleased with this muslin. Straight out of the package, it is 9'6" wide and 14'8" long. Its big enough to fit four adults (six if they're cozy) for full-length portraits. I've washed mine twice (cold water, cool dry) and it has not noticeably shrunk. The top rod pocket is big enough to fit 1 1/2" diameter PVC, for an easy DIY stand solution.

As for the reviewers complaining about the wrinkles. Don't sweat them--embrace the wrinkles. Wash it, dry it, stuff it in a loosely fitting bag. When you hang the muslin for a portrait session, light it with a couple of strobes and set your aperture to the lowest f-stop so that the whole area gives you exposure warning blinkies. No wrinkles to manage in post; no hours spent ironing. Set and tear down in minutes.

Excellent for the price, used it last night on a shoot and the client was very pleased. Not as thick as some, but doesn't seem to be an issue. Wrinkles and fold lines weren't a big deal as long as the subject was well lit, the lights will blow out the detail and turn it solid white.

The material is so thin you can see through it. It makes for a horrible solid background. Don't waste your money, you'll end up spending an additional $10+ to ship it back, as the seller doesn't pay for returns to be shipped back.

I felt the backdrop was too thin. If you use this for Chromakey, you really need to make sure you have plenty of light or it will produce many shadows. I think a bed sheet is thicker than this backdrop. Buy the sheet instead!

Arrived fast, in perfect conditions. The sewing to put the bars through is well done and strong.
The fabric is pretty thin, I was afraid it would be too thin. But it worked beautifully. It's a keeper!!! I'm definitely getting a black one now.
I use it to bring to client's location with other portable studio equipment. This means I fold it. And all the wrinkles and marks are completely manageable if you use photoshop or lightroom (pretty easy and fast fixing on the wrinkles). Now, that can be a bit of a problem with other colors... still gotta try.
Obviously, nothing is better than paper, but as far as muslin background goes, this is very good.

Works well. Especially great in the area of strength. After numerous models have stomped all over it......still no damage outside of a little dirt. Wrinkles are an issue.....but we picked up a steamer.

Seriously? What a waste! Don't even think about using this cloth. It's certainly NOT studio quality. I'm guessing some friends wrote positive reviews. This is so thin you could see the texture of our walls through it. Even for a budget this is not worth it. Double up your money and get something that you can actually use. It's not even worth sending this back!
