4.0 out of 5 stars Born to Run and Chrome Circle in one
If you've read those two, you don't need this one. It's just those two bound together. This should have been mentioned before I bought the book.

For those who haven't read the book(s)it is more than worth it. They are great juvinile stories that, IMO, are lots of fun for old grouches like myself as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer beware: Two older books masquerading as a new title!, October 1, 1999

The one star is a boo-hiss for Baen books, which is re-releasing older books under new titles, apparently in an attempt to get customers to buy books they've bought before.

This book is actually the books "Born to Run" and "Chrome Circle," which are about a human protagonist, various supernatural creatures, and troubled teens. These books were originally part of the SERRAted Edge series of urban (modern) fantasy.

The books are okay; not Lackey's best, but anything she writes is going to be worth reading. But not worth paying for *twice*! Shame on Baen books for trying to hoodwink their readers. There was no indication this was a re-issue when I pre-ordered; and even the book itself gave the older titles in small print.

1.0 out of 5 stars What was wrong with the old title?, December 8, 1999

The single star is a minimum requirement, I would rate this book as 0 stars - there is a certain lack of originality. I really loved this story - the first time around, but felt cheated when it arrived, not as I believed a sequel to the crome ring, just a reisue. Please don't do that to us. I like reading the books by ML, but I do not want to need to do research before I order new books, the least you could do was to tell the world that the book is not new.

1.0 out of 5 stars I've read them before!, October 20, 1999

I am very annoyed. I purchased this book believing that it was a new one in the series and after a few pages realized that it was anything but! It would've been nice if I'd been told Before I made the purchase!

It is too bad that a publisher is so anxious to make money that they release a book under a new name so that they can sell something that has already been sold and bought.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, January 20, 2000

I did not realize when I purchased this book that it was exactly the same as Chrome Circle, only with a different name. It was a waste of my money as I already have Chrome Circle and now I have two copies of the same story. I was very unhappy to have this happen.

I think my title says it all. I've read this book so many times the cover has fallen off, and I'm thinking of getting a new copy. This book has to stories in it, which you can buy seprately. Both of them are really good, although the second one gave me a scare at the end. It's about a group of elves into racecar driving who own a aompany called Fairgrove Industries, along with a few human mages. There is a slight love story in the second book also, though it dosen't get in the way of the rest of the story. I wonderfol book.

5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious, August 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chrome Borne (The Serrated Edge) (Mass Market Paperback)
These two books are Born to Run and Chrome Circle bound together. It can be a little confusing because they are the first and fourth books in a series, and one of the main characters in Chrome Circle originated from the second book in the series. These books are very funny, and Tannim is a very cool character. The first book starts very abruptly, but it was understandable and exciting. Two thumbs up.

4.0 out of 5 stars People.....Give it up!, March 20, 2000

A lot of people complaining that this is merely a reprint of "Chrome Circle." IT ISN'T! It is a reprint of BOTH "Born to Run" and "Chrome Circle." While I imagine that, yes, it would be disappointing to receive this when you've already got them, to me that just indicates that you didn't check it out thoroughly, and just bought it because of who wrote it or the series it belonged to. Myself, I enjoyed both stories, and was happy to get two for the price of one. Same goes for "The OtherWorld," only more so because I couldn't find "Wheel of Fire" in print anywhere.

The problem with this book is that it is litterally a re-run. It is a merger of two very very good ML books but the cover really fails to warn the buyer of this. You think it's the next book in a very good serries, get it home, open it up and realize you've seen this all before.

Lucky for me the store where I bought it was very good about taking it back.

The books in their individual setting are outstanding but this is just a cheat.
