The review on how big this really is mostly accurate. It's bigger. I bought the 7" one figuring it would fit in my 8" (7 7/8") stock pot. No. It's size ranges from 7 1/8" diameter (rings) to 7 7/8" from edge of foot to foot. I am sure if it fit in my crock pot, it would have worked wonderfully. The ball feet would not scratch the bottom.Chrome Plated Steel Footed Wire Plate Steam Rack

I bought this rack after struggling with something more makeshift a few months ago. I'd made a steamed plum pudding for the holidays, and wasn't happy with the improvised 'rack' set up I'd created for it's first steaming, so I bought this rack specifically to use when reheating it for Christmas.

Having this bit of equipment made all the difference. No fiddling, no adjusting, no wobbling. Whew.

I'm tempted to get two while the getting is good.

It's sturdy and stable and seemed to withstand the hours in a waterbath with no trouble.

I bought this for my pressure cooker which is approximately 10 1/2 inches in diameter. The rack that originally came with it is a flat metal plate with large holes in it--it sits almost flat in the pressure cooker, does not really elevate the food very much. Anyone who use a pressure cooker knows that you are suppose to just steam the food--it is not suppose to be cooked in the liquids itself. Since this chrome rack has rather wide openings, I figured the small vegetables would fall through and sit in the liquids when using the pressure cooker. So what I did was to sit the chrome rack down into the bottom of the pot, lay the original flat rack on top of the chrome rack, and then add my meats and vegetables. Since the flat rack hangs overt the sides of the rack and fits to the walls of the pot, the flat rack does not elevate the meat so high it can't be fitted into the pot. And since the flat rack has a lot of solid space, the vegetables don't have the tendency to fall down into the liquids. With the holes in the flat rack, it still lets the steam through to cook your food.

My foods turn out just the way they should now whenever I use this chrome rack. Hope these helpful tips helps someone else who wants to try this rack with a pressure cooker.

I love inexpensive products that work almost perfect, have no moving parts and just do what they're supposed to do without any issues. I have bought, reviewed and given 5 stars to many right here on Amazon.

BUT this ain't one of those. This item WAS the perfect insert for my needs, which is along the lines of cooking food in canning jars and such. It fit perfectly in my stock pot, had 4 little legs that made it the perfect height in the pot and did not move or migrate during the cooking process. What it DID do, in spite of being listed as chrome plated, was rust everywhere, especially at the joints AND the 4 legs, which deposited rust on my very expensive stainless steel pot. This made me absolutely livid, as one of the reasons for buying was the chrome plating. I had chrome plated wheels on one of my cars in the east and they didn't rust for over 5 years, including salted-road winters. So what happened to the chrome plating? Did they turn off the plating machine too early?

I also bought this due to the good reviews. Did I get the only lemon of this item? Everyone else seems very happy. :~( But not me. Guess I will keep looking for something plastic or non-metallic. NOT RECOMMENDED!

The product is exactly as advertised. It fits nicely in a crock pot to keep meat from burning and also fits well in a 9 inch round pan.

I use this to lift bowls out of the water in a pressure cooker. For this job it works as expected. You will need a 8" (20 cm) inside diameter pot to fit this rack. It will raise the bowl 1.75" off the pot bottom and the outer ring is 6.75" in diameter.

This fits nicely in my Instant Pot electric pressure cooker. I like that it has more "rings" for support than the one that came with my pressure cooker, but rust started appearing on it within a couple days where the joints connect and the little balls attach to the legs.

This wire rack keeps items out of the grease in the bottom of your crock pot. It keeps meats, ect. from sitting in liquids. Perfect for cooking meatloaf or other foods that would become "soggy" sitting in the crock pot. Food comes out moist and tender! I am very satisfied. This item was kinda hard to find. I'm glad I found it because I was tired of using wads of foil in the crock pot to keep foods from becoming soaked. Buy this item, you wont regret it!
