There are many different mounting versions of this connector. I had no idea which version was in the Kindle Fire 1. I ordered the Amazon recommended connector because I had not received the Kindle prior to my grandaughter's request to repair it. I wanted to have the correct replacement when the Kindle arrived in order to expedite the repair, based on her description of the problem, and supporting online Kindle problem information comments.
The Amazon recommended connector was the correct version and the Kindle now works properly. I would not recomend this repair to anyone with little or no surface mount hand soldering experience,
Proper desoldering and resoldering chemicals and tools are a must.

3.0 out of 5 stars Way to expensive go to ebay September 23, 2013
I been fixing electronics for years this jack should come with presolder for this price. It doesn't. the pins that you solder aren't long enough either. go to ebay and get part like this there better off. plus WOW $20 for this jack !!!!!!!!! what someones making a killing ! I think it's Amazon cause they sure did do a crapy job soldering the original jack on the boards about the 30th jack I've replaced for my customers. Computer Den Clarksburg WV.

I had to try to fix a friends kindle fire because it stopped charging. I opened the case and took it apart when the cca came out the usb charging port stayed in the case luckily the pads did not come off of the cca all the leads had broken on the usb port. I found this replacement on amazon and it fit perfectly now the fire charges just fine. I wish it was a little cheaper but hey it did the job.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not fit my Kindle Fire, Gen I November 14, 2013
I essentially consider this a bait and switch. The picture shown in the listing is not the part that was shipped. I have one of the first Kindle fires made and the part I was sent does not have the metal pieces on the side that is needed to solder it into place. I now have a broken kindle in pieces on my dining room table no replacement part. Very, very very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was the solution September 22, 2013

Before realizing that my first edition Kindle was still under the extended warranty with Staples I ordered this USB port to fix the problem on my Kindle. Luckily Staples replaced my Kindle and told me if I could fix my old one I could keep it. I found someone who could replace the USB for me and the charging problem was resolved. Replacing this port is not easy. It takes a very steady hand, non-lead solder, and185 degree heat or less to solider it on the motherboard.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not For the Impatient or Inexperienced December 11, 2013

This is not a snap in, easy job. If you do not have patience or a little experience doing this sort of thing save yourself some headache. I was following a YouTube video and was doing well but missed unclipping one cable and ended up accidentally tearing it which rendered the Kindle useless. I should have left well enough alone I suppose. After completely disassembling you then have to solder the part onto the board. Probably an opportunity for a better design here.

4.0 out of 5 stars Harder than expected to replace, but it works. December 13, 2013

I'm lucky that I have a friend who repairs electronics for a living, because otherwise my Fire would still be in pieces. This port replacement requires the very careful use of a super-fine soldering iron - the wires that need to be soldered are like hairs, and they're less than a millimeter apart. It still took him over 3 hours to get it right. I'd recommend as long as you have steady hands and the proper tools - also needed a set of jeweler's screwdrivers and powerful reading glasses.

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't fit! July 12, 2014
Verified Purchase
Listing said that it fits motherboard part number 31KC1MB0090, but it doesn't, at least not mine. The solder tabs are too wide to fit into the through holes and the leads are too short to reach pads on board. I picked this item because it was the only connector that was eligible for prime shipping. Now my kindle is in pieces and I have to wait for a new connector. Very disappointing.
