Babylon Is Falling - Cannabis Cup 2009 - Amsterdam, NL

Illustrating the perfect underground success story, Slightly Stoopid's dual front-men Miles Doughty (Guitar, Bass, Vocals) and Kyle McDonald (Guitar, Bass, Vocals), created their own label, Stoopid Records, in the early 2000’s to avoid signing a record deal and keep their DIY work ethic and freedom. West coast DUB/Rock pioneers later added musicians Ryan ‘RyMo’ Moran ... Read more in Amazon's Slightly Stoopid Store

Editorial Reviews

Southern California's Slightly Stoopid have cemented a signature sound by fusing acoustic and electric rock with blues, psychedelic dub reggae and hip-hop. Catch Chronchitis, the band's 5th studio album, produced by Mario C, Paul Leary, Miguel and Chris D out Aug 7th on Stoopid Records/ Controlled Substance Sound Labs. This stellar album features a little help from friends such as G Love, Guru of Gangstar, Angelo Moore of Fishbone and Money Mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding private! August 7, 2007
By matt
Format:Audio CD
Once again everything I expected and more. What a great follow up to closer to the sun. No punk songs on this albumn (whick kinda dissapoints me), but it's ok. I'm not sure there should be any ont this album. The whole album grooves perfect together from track to track (17 tracks). Bought this album first thing this morning. Fortunally I have a job where I drive a lot and was able to listen to it straight thrugh 3 times. No skipping tracks here people (Not that I do with any of their albums anyway). Good job, again fellas!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Sound April 9, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Superb sound on this album. This is a great chill album and perfect for coming after the Closer to the Sun album, which was upbeat. With songs like "Ocean" and "Jimi" will really give you the feeling that you are actually close to the waves. Angelo Moore of Badfish ads some great vocals to the song "Ever Really Wanted" and G. Love stops in to record "Baby I Like It." With these guest artists and the already amazing sound that is Slightly Stoopid why would one even question about getting this album. Do your self a favor and get this CD so that you can also get infected with Chronchitis.

3.0 out of 5 stars Only Ok August 17, 2007
Format:Audio CD
I just listened to this album and I am a little disappointed. All of the songs were slower with i guess you could say laid back but not in the way that collie man is. It just didn't seem the same I love their other stuff from acoustic roots to closer to the sun but Chronchitis didn't do it for me it was too flat. I'll listen to it some more an see if it makes a difference but I just hope when I see them they don't just play their new stuff. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad CD it's just
(in my a opinion) sub par.

2.0 out of 5 stars Little Disappointed August 17, 2007
Format:Audio CD
I've been a Slightly Stoopid fan some time after Everything You Need came out, and I have to say that I was disappointed with this album. The problem here is slow, monotonous, repetitive songs... and TOO many of them. There is too much filler in this album. 17 songs, ALL of which share the same sound, is unnecessary. Granted, some of the songs are great. But nothing can really stand out!

I love the songs Digital, 2am, The Other Side, and Above the Clouds, but I can hardly recognize these highlights over a lot of the other lackluster tracks. Where is the Wiseman, or Officer sound? Wheres the Fireshot, or Closer to the Sun sound? It seems like the band reduced their wide array of sounds to one chill, weed-tokin sound, which is a good sound, but not one to compose a whole 17-track album to.

5.0 out of 5 stars The vinyl version is superior June 8, 2014
The CD/download is good for the car, but at home the vinyl out performs. These guys did it right with the LP, the spaciousness, clarity, and deep extended low-end prove that the wax was not an afterthought in the catalog

Slighty stoopid puts out great tune's anytime they put pencil to paper. Chronchitis just happen's to be extra great to my ears.Every tune is good's, as there does not seem to be a single "album filler tune". They are masters of there craft and truely a pleasure to fill your ear drums and skull with.

One of my favorite albums, well produced tracks that sound natural and airy when played back. Really loving this album.
