1.0 out of 5 stars Snoozer
Written in a highly academic, boring and repetitive style, Chronic Illness offers little information or insight. Assuming you had no medical knowledge of the elderly there may be a few bits of useable information in this book, but certianly not enough information to justify the cost of purchase or the tedium of reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An up-to-date, serious, and effective overview and study, March 5, 2004
Now in a thoroughly updated and expanded fifth edition, Chronic Illness: Impact And Interventions is a study text especially intended for upper level undergraduate and graduate students in nursing, social work, and rehabilitation, but the information it offers is useful to all family members and survivors dealing with the psychological, ethical, organizational, and financial difficulties of ongoing illness. The collaborative effort of Ilene Morof Lubkin (Professor Emeritus, California State University - Hayward) and Pamala D. Larsen (Interim Director, School of Nursing College of Health and Human Services, University of North Carolina at Charlotte), Chronic Illness offers students new chapters on home care, long term care, and the role of the advanced practice nurse. An up-to-date, serious, and effective overview and study of this significant health issue, Chronic Illness is strongly recommended addition to Medical School library reference collections and Nursing Studies supplemental reading lists.

I ordered this book first for the price. I expected a fairly used book but have not found any markings in it or torn pages. Looks perfect to me. I recieved fast shipping and have almost finished the study in it already. Thanks for the deal you saved me a ton!

Assuming you had no medical knowledge of the elderly there may be a few bits of useable information in this book, but certianly not enough information to justify the cost of purchase or the tedium of reading it.

Unfortunately, I had to buy this book for a nursing course on the elderly. I found little to no useful information contained within. From the title of each chapter and a minute or so skim, the students in my class were all able to sound as if they read the entire chapter. Not a single student in my class actually felt the need to wade through the academic jargon and pointless babble of this book. If you are a nursing student and this is required reading, you could likely skip the purchase and look up the topics online. Online searches would yield more info, in an more interesting format, for less money.

The book is in excellent condition. I am pleased with the product however, I sent 5 emails to the seller while I waited the entire shipping period wondering if the book had been shipped. I never received any response of any kind. However pleased I am with the quality of the product I have to admit I may not order from this seller again. Shipping was slow. The book came on the very last day of the shipping period.

I was forced to buy this book by my university. The only word I can describe for it is BORING. Reading it is a torturous experience. If you have insomnia, keep it on your nightstand and read it. I will guarantee you will fall asleep quickly. Waste of good hard earned $$$$ in my opinion.
