Great history reference,
By Phillip (California United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chronicle of the World (Hardcover)
A single huge book that outlines world history in chronoligical order with all civilizations represented. Events are recorded in news article format. One can turn to a given date in time and read articles about what was going on in Constantinople, Tikal Bangalore and Rome in that year. All matter of fact with little or no modern revisionist bias.

Unique and entertaining approach to world history,
By Scudrunr@aol.com (Cleveland, Ohio) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chronicle of the World (Hardcover)
Chronicle of the World is one of the more interesting "texts" I have ever read. It chronicles events from the begining of time to modern-day. Each page is written in newspaper headline format covering events occurring simultaneously throughout different parts of the world making reading easy and enjoyable. For the first time I can scan an historical text and get an overview of events that have occurred simultaneously throughout various regions of the globe. I would recommend this book to both the high school student as well as college student. Regardless of age, all would find Chronicle of the World very informative and entertaining.

A delightful read, Chronicle of the World covers over 3 million years of human history. Full of colorful illustrations, it portrays the worlds greatest civilizations, noble leaders, and evil tyrants in a easy to read newspaper format. Each article is written just like as if it was barely reported. A wonderful read, it is perfect for the student or the lover of history. An easy to use index lets you find the information quickly and easily. As either a reference tool or for serious reading, Chronicle of the World is invaluable.

1300 pages take you from 3 million BC to the 1980s. With hundreds of mini-stories written like newspaper articles ('Mozart dies of a fever'; 'Alexander subdues restless Greeks' etc) you can gain a basic familiarity with much of history. Also because events from all over the world are juxtaposed with others in the same time-frame, you get a clear idea of how the world was progressing at any given time
