5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Indie RPGs I've ever played. March 27, 2013
Where do I start? This game is a gem. Out of so many horrific games that pretend to be something they're not, I finally buy an indie RPG that rivals even the best classic Final Fantasy games out there. The hi-res retro visuals are gorgeous, and the HD animations are just icing on the cake. The soundtrack is beyond amazing, I haven't heard as great a soundtrack as this in a long, long time. Gameplay is very smooth, and the battle system is a new take on a classic system that works very well for this game. Love the mode 7 effect on the overworld areas too. Above all though is the story and the characters. The story is heavily addictive and AMAZING! The characters are wonderfully developed, and some of their dialogue had me literally laughing out loud, that's how good the writing is. Definitely one of the best RPGs I've played in years, and worth every penny spent on it. Watch out Square-Enix, I think you got some competition headed your way.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved the story July 12, 2013
The best thing to me about this game is the story line, hands down. Very engaging, and addictive.

This reminds me very much of when I was a kid playing 16bit games, huge nostalgia factor with a story line that is more suited to my tastes as an adult.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story. July 13, 2013
This game has an engaging storyline, with well crafted characters. There is a lot to explore, and completionists are rewarded for exploring every nook and cranny the map has to offer. I was expecting low quality sprites, but they're actually rendered in HD. Impressive.

The soundtrack is great, not your typical chipset here. Full MP3's and amazing at that. The company's YouTube has some examples. Give a listen if you're an OST kind of person.

Apparently the face portraits are getting an overhaul in the sequel, huge quality increase there. The original portraits in this game I found to be a bit too anime for my taste, but if that's your thing these portraits will be right up your alley. As such, I am looking forward to the new art in the sequel.

Overall, definitely worth the cost. Give it a shot if you're an RPG fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best I have ever played October 27, 2013

Perfect, just perfect. I have been a hard core rpg gamer since Phantasy star 1 back in the '80's and this, I believe is my new favorite game of all time. I love it that you can "level up" at any time if you feel like it and at a certain point in the game you can really grind and spend your money any way you wish to customize each character. The graphics are beautifully rendered, the story line is great and amusing and different. I can not wait for the next installment and HIGHLY recommend this game. I have already played it through twice.
Buy this game. Great job designers!
