When Knowledge Becomes Lethal

For centuries people have risked their lives and committed unspeakable crimes to discover the secrets of the legendary The Tree of Life. Times have changed, but not human nature. As Sylvie Leroux, a young archaeologist and adventurer, working to solve the mystery that surrounds the legend, finds herself tempted by the same promises like so many others before her.

What is linking the mystery of the missing crew from the Mary Celeste with a trunk dating back to the Spanish conquistadors and Ponce de Leon? Who is the enigmatic Count of St. Germain? I went through the game in a few hours - tops. The storyline is simple and moves along fast. There are very few mini games and not difficult. The so called "bonuses" at the end, is just an option to replay the puzzles you already solved - no new ones. I thought I was just getting started when the credits started rolling! Also, there is only one save file. I like the graphics and had fun for the short time I was playing, but there should be more...so much more - especially with the end of game bonuses.

The Secret Tree of Life is an adventure game for the Dsi and DS with some very nice graphics. While the puzzles are on the easy side, some of the mini-games I did find challenging. The story is quite interesting and since I am a die hard adventure fan I found this to be a good example of the genre on the DS and Dsi. The sound is also good too - great music soundtrack. I have the PC version and this one is quite different from the PC version but does share some plot and story elements. Overall I am pleased with this game - I have all City Interactive adventure games and will pick up the next one as well.

Credits are rolling and I have no clue what the mystery was much less how it was solved. Several of the puzzles didn't work and those that did were mostly simple. Overall pretty dissatisfying.
