This is one of the graphic novels that transcends the comics genre and offers a stirring and emotionally resonant story along with humor, excellent artwork, and, hey, robots! The author published this with a Xeric grant, which gives a nod to the quality of his work.

If I were to compare the author's style with anyone, I would include in that list many of the earlier newspaper comics like Gasoline Alley, Walt & Skeezix, Popeye, and Little Nemo, as well as those more current artists who owe their style to the same, such as Jaime Hernandez, and others who I can't think of at the moment. There is a wonderful economy of line, emotional depth to the characters (and hey, they're robots! So, that's extra super!), and attention to background and setting.

This book is worth the purchase price. Support independent comics!
