5.0 out of 5 stars fantasy with strong character and plot development, March 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chronicles of Tornor (Paperback)
I find it fascinating that none of the above reviews mention even slightly the strong lesbian and gay overtones to all three of Lynn's books in this trilogy. While I agree with most of their commentary on style and detail of the writing, I want readers to know that this trilogy deals consciously and complexly with issues of both gay and lesbian coming-of-age, psychologically, sociologically and erotically, in both celebratory and painfully character and plot choices. Lynn's matter of fact acceptance of these issues as integral to the plot creates a non-polemic chance to read homosexual and homosocial lives into literature of a very high degree of skill and polish. An opportunity not to be missed, especially for those readers who are just addressing these issues themselves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding - Even as a reprint ., January 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chronicles of Tornor (Paperback)
Outstanding book of the orginal three(3)seperate volumes. If you read no other books this year, read this one. This is a must have for anyone who collects fantasy books. Elizabeth's best effort in one combined book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most welcome reprint of a breathtaking work!, January 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chronicles of Tornor (Paperback)
I am delighted to see that Ms. Lynn's Tornor books will once again be available. I love to give them to any friend who hasn't read them (and to those friends who have read them, but don't yet own them) and it's been getting harder to find them in used bookstores! This is a clue: people who own these books do not wish to part with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its about time!, November 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chronicles of Tornor (Paperback)
I read the tornor trilogy a few years ago, and have wanted to pass it on to a number of friends, and have been so disappointed to find all the books out of print! This complete trilogy is a DELIGHT!! The stories are adult and intelligent, focusing on the lives and loves of remarkable, brave characters, without resorting to a "romanc-y" tone. I recommend them highly, especially to anyone just discovering this sort of literature, or who thinks they won't like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars if possible, i'd give it ten stars, August 26, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chronicles of Tornor (Paperback)
I don't own this full trilogy, but I've read all of the Tornor books. They are some of the best books I've ever read, and might be topped only by Orson Scott Card, Piers Anthony's Mode books and Elizabeth A. Lynn's book of short stories, which I wish was still in print. This is absolutely necessary reading for anyone who likes reading.
