5.0 out of 5 stars The best strategy guide for the best game!!!
No other strategy guide can tell you more about this amazing sequel of the 1995 Super Nintendo game Chrono Trigger. If you haven't played the game yet, go rent it or buy it now!!! If you have played it, the game might seem easy at first because well.....it's the beginning!! After a while, the game will expand and you might have missed some cool items. That's why this...

2.0 out of 5 stars Helpful, but not always right
I have used Bradygames Strategy Guides for several games, and they were always helpful and normally the information is accurate. The maps in this strategy guide are extremely helpful if you want to find all the elements and items, but don't trust everything you read in the walkthrough. At least one section is so wrong that if you follow what the stratgy guide says, you...

This is a really good book to use if you are stuck during the game. I have used it in times when I was stuck. It even helped me find all of the characters and tell me all the endings and how to obtain them. If you are looking for a great game and the book, well my friends look no more because this is one of the best games and book, I have ever had. I have been waiting for this game for about 5 years and I know all of you have since Chrono Trigger! So to all of you reading this, go out and by this game and guide! Have Fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Guide! Good Work BradyGames!, January 27, 2003
This review is from: Chrono Cross Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
First of all, the game's layout is just beautiful. Lots of artwork, screenshots to help you out, and full-colour maps.

The walkthrough is rather good, (even though you keep having to flip to the back for the maps) The boss tips are right on, and all the items you can find are listed as well as enemy info and pictures. Info on New Game+ is also included (though i did notice a few things missing..) Also, all the characters, the specials, and info on how to recruit them is listed flawlessly.

This game isn't difficult (and a guide isn't needed to beat the game) but if you're a completist, and want to get everything there is to get in Chrono Cross, this guide has everything you need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you need to know, December 31, 2000

I purchased Chrono Cross awhile back on an online auction site. The seller wanted to sell me the guide with the game too, so I reluctantly accepted. I like to figure out games for myself, so I figured I could just sell the guide after receiving it. That was the plan . . . but once I looked over the guide, well, I knew it had a home.

The guide is very complete, it has lots of nice charts for weapons, armor, and enemies and menus, the most useful charts being those that told how to get the characters' level 7 tech skills. As much as I would like to think I am the perfect game player, well . . . there is no crazy way I could've found all of those tech skills on my own.

There is a good selection of maps toward the back, too. There isn't any overworld map though (overworld meaning a big map of the whole land, but it isn't all that much trouble getting around without it).

Oh yes, it also tells you how to get all of the different endings. That's a definite plus; some of the endings are mediocre, but others of the endings are downright awesome.

In summary, it is completely possible to beat the game without the guide. But the guide helps the reader explore many of the intricacies, such as various sidequests, adding to the length and richness of the game.

Any gripes? The guide does have the occasional minor misprint (but so does every guide), and it often elaborates excessively on how to beat the bosses, but other than that, it is solid.

I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chrono Cross, March 21, 2001

This is a great guide. It tells where just about everything is, and when to get it. The maps are helpful, and items are shown on the map. There are a few minor mistakes in the guide, but anyone can easily figure out what to do. The mistakes are little ones, like a missing tresure chest on the map, or a forgotten step in the walkthrough. Items to get are listed at the beginning of each section, and they are highlighted in bold when you can get them. Also, it reveals how to get every character, without revealing too much of the plot. I think that this is the only guide for this game, but if you need a good guide, buy this one anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Absolute Necessity..., November 29, 2001

This review is from: Chrono Cross Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
Normally on my RPG games I like to play them through without the help of guides, but Chrono Cross is so non-linear and has such a wide base of characters there is no real way you could find many of the cool stuff in the game without this guide.

Simply put, it's well laid out, as bright and colourful as the game itself, details where all the items are located, and gives advice on how to beat the more difficult bosses.

Yes, you can complete the game without this, but you would most certainly miss out on a lot of awesome subquests, groovy characters, and very helpful items, you woulnd't want to do that now, would you?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Great Guide, September 16, 2001
By
This review is from: Chrono Cross Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
Not only is the game great, but so is the guide for it. It tells how to forge all the weapons and armor, shows how to get all the elements, goes into detail on the boss fights, and also, it tells how to get all the 40 or so characters. If you have the game, you should get the guide.

If you happen to be stuck in the game or are looking to find a very powerful weapon, this book will help you. It is very detailed and gives a good amount of information on everything including item locations, character info., and world maps. Get this and the game will be a lot easier, otherwise you might end up lost in the game forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth The Money, June 18, 2001
By
This review is from: Chrono Cross Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
I found this guide to be perfect in my tackling of Chrono Cross. The walkthroughs are simple and easy to follow, and the character information section is very useful as well. Also, this guide provides in depth maps of all possible items that can be found in every area. Chrono Cross can be a difficult game, as it becomes complicated to know where to go to progress the storyline. This guide got me through this very enjoyable game, and made my experience with it, a lot less stressful. Go buy this game, and the guide if you need it, it's well worth the money.

Many that are playing CHRONO CROSS are playing it because of its prequel, CHRONO TRIGGER. One of the best parts of CHRONO TRIGGER was its storyline and its sequel CHRONO CROSS provides a very worth follow up storyline that should not be missed. But what if you get stuck in the game? You want to ba able to get the help you may need without the fear of reading what happens next in the storyline don't you? Then this strategy guide is for you. It is layed out in a way at to give very detailed descriptions as to what needs to be completed for all 40 playable characters and their side quests without giving away one ounce of story before you make it there on your own. An incredable guide indeed!
