Biography

Travis is one of the most successful bands to come out of the modern Brit-Pop scene, known for their hit singles including “Why Does It Always Rain On Me?”, “Sing” and “Departed” - inspiring bands like Coldplay and Keane who came after them. In fact, Coldplay’s Chris Martin calls himself a “poor man’s Fran Healy,” referring to Travis’s lead singer and chief songwriter. It’s understandable why… Read more in Amazon's Travis Store

5.0 out of 5 stars First Time I heard Travis, February 20, 2010

In October 2001 I flew to England to visit relatives in Manchester, England. The first morning I awoke a song called 'Side' was playing in my head phones. Who is this group - I asked my nephew. They are called 'Travis' - why do you ask Uncle Dave - are they not in states? No - they are not in the states and I wonder why they're not - because they are fantastic. 9 years later I own all the CD's that Travis has released and now the cream of the crop: A Chronological Acoustical Journey Through The Travis Back Catalogue Live has arrived. Fran and Andy have produced a gem for any CD collector. Fran's introductions to each song are pure magic and each track is pure magic as well. Brilliant.

Fran tells some lovely stories here to go along with wonderful acoustic versions of Travis's most popular songs.

My only quibble (and the reason it gets four instead of five stars) - several of the tracks end before the duo has finished playing the song. Not sure where along the production line this happened, but it's a bit jarring when listening through.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST LIVE ALBUM EVER!, May 4, 2010

This review is from: A Chronological Acoustical Journey Through The Travis Back Catalogue Live (Audio CD)
I originally bought this as I was unable to see the show at Jammin Java in Virgina last year and wanted a taste of what it was like. Not only was I surprised with the production of the album, I felt as if I was there with the band at their small intimate venue. I was brought to tears as I listened to the stories and music come together. It was like taking a trip back through college as I discovered this wonderful band in 1999 when I was a Freshman at Michigan State. The pure minimalism that is this live album is what makes it so epic. Starting with "20" and touching on hits like "Turn," "All I Wanna Do is Rock," "WDIAROM," mixed in with personable bantor that makes you feel like a friend at a party. If you like Travis, get your hands on this album, if you love Travis and don't have this yet...Shame on you!
