Book Description

October 19, 2010 New Living Translation
Now available in large print editions, The One Year Chronological Bible is ideal for anyone who wants to take a fresh look at the Bible by reading it in the order the events actually happened. You can read the entire Bible in as little as 15 minutes a day with this One Year Bible, the best-selling daily reading Bible brand.
The New Living Translation is an authoritative Bible translation, rendered faithfully into today’s English from the ancient texts by 90 leading Bible scholars. The NLT’s scholarship and clarity breathe life into even the most difficult-to-understand Bible passages—but even more powerful are stories of how people’s lives are changing as the words speak directly to their hearts. That’s why we call it “The Truth Made Clear.”

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

A fascinating way to read through the Bible in one year . . . in only fifteen minutes per day!
Now you can gain a better understanding of the order of biblical events and the historical context in which they unfolded. The One Year Chronological Bible arranges the Bible text in the order the events actually happened.
In The One Year Chronological Bible, prophetic books are interwoven with the historical accounts they accompanied. Psalms follow the events about which they were written. Proverbs are placed in the time frame in which they were compiled. The life of Christ is woven into one moving story. And Paul’s letters to the young churches in the first century are integrated into the book of Acts. You do not have to be a Bible historian to appreciate the fascinating new perspective waiting for you in The One Year Chronological Bible. It’s like reading some of your favorite passages again for the very first time. The One Year Chronological Bible also has:
  • 365 daily readings to help you read the entire Bible chronologically in one year
  • Transition statements to help you understand why some Scripture portions appear where they do
  • Historical dates indicating when the events actually occurred
  • A general timeline of major events to give you a clear overview of Israel’s history
  • A Scripture index in canonical order to help you find your favorite passages quickly and easily

3.0 out of 5 stars NLT One Year Chronological Bible January 1, 2011

I have an older version of this Bible and enjoy it very much. I purchased three (3) of the new versions that says 'Large Print' for people who have vision issues. This is not Large Print, in fact, it may only be one size up from the regular print version. This should not be labeled Large Print because it is not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great One Year Bible February 8, 2011

I really like this Bible for a one year study. Because it is chronological, it has some books and chapters in a different order so you read the events as they occurred in history. This is very interesting when you study the beginning of the New Testament where individual verses or chapters of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, which describe the same events, occur on the same pages as you read, so you do not need to flip back and forth through each book to compare. This Bible is not meant to be a "study" Bible, so there are essentially no "helps". I found the Quest Study Bible or the Life Application Study Bible great references (perhaps in a different translation, like NIV). The NLT version is very good and I'm enjoying it, but having another translation for reference can be interesting. This Bible hasn't been published in the NIV yet. The large print is nice, and the font is very readable. I wish there was a bit more space in the margins to make notes. If you are looking for this method of Bible study, I think you will be very happy with the chronological format, as opposed to a one year Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars NLT One Year Chronological Bible November 18, 2010

I really like this Bible--I enjoy the perspective of reading the Bible in chronological order, and the NLT makes it easy to read. I also like the cover, it "feels" good in your hand, and is beautiful!

4.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed--not really Large Print November 25, 2011

I like this Bible for myself because I wanted a chronological Bible, which really helps sort out the time perspective--particularly in the Old Testament. I like the weight of this Bible, it is not too heavy, and, of course the NLT is easy to understand, which makes it good for reading. The print is great for me because it is slightly larger than normal, which is fine because I can read it without reading glasses. Unfortunately, I wanted to give a copy to my 90 year old father, who has macular degeneration, and this edition will not work. He needs a truly LARGE PRINT edition and, regretfully, this is not the Bible for him.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed in Quality January 12, 2012
I have enjoyed this fresh perspective of the Bible by reading it in chronological order, but to do it over again I would have made a different selection from the choices given. This particular one has such thin pages that to underline and make notes as I read is impossible as it bleeds through. Will check out the quality in advance next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars one year Chronological Bible NLT January 15, 2011
By MaryL
This is so easy to follow the history and keep up with the linage of the Bible persons. As for the review that said you can't find the verses, there is a Scripture index in the very back that list all the books of the Bible, chapter and verse and the page it is located on. I don't think this was designed to be your carry Bible, but it is so nice to have the story in an easy to follow format and easy to to understand language.

I was hoping this had some study notes along with the daily reading. For me, it wasn't really what I like. The print was good size though. God bless..
