Boy Sets Fire doing Holiday In Cambodia,
By A Customer
This review is from: In Chrysalis (Audio CD)
I have BSF's first album "The day the sun went out" and that is a great album. Now, I heard this album. It's not what i expected from Boy Sets Fire. I agree they covered "Holiday In Cambodia" very well. But when you have an album that is out of print, you expect something better. But i do like this album.

This is one of the greatest cds ever recorded. Great Lyrics and music. And of course they dont want people to dance at their shows, its a rock band.

This a great release from the band. All 5 songs are great, and one of the best songs I've ever heard from Boy Sets Fire, The Tyranny of What Everybody Knows, is on here. It's put out on one of the greatest labels in the world (Initial located right here at home in Louisville, KY). Like I said, it's very short, but it's an ep, so it's kinda supposed to be. The only real problem I have with it is the fact that you're paying $11 for five songs. You can pick this up cheaper elsewhere (from the label or used or probably anywhere else), and I suggest you do that. It's a good introduction to the band if you've never heard them, and it shows the divesity of a band on the rise. Not many hardcore bands are as good and as diverse as the band, and the fact they play every show they can and have a great work ethic only make them better. Check out all their old material, it's great. Boy Sets Fire are one of the best hardcore bands out there, so check this out and give them a try, they rock.

Boy Sets Fire scores again,

This is another incredible work by BSF. I first purchased "After the Eulogy" and was so impressed I had to go out and get more. This EP starts it off with 2 fast-paced, heavy, hardcore songs; then it goes it the lighter, more emo "Loser of the Year Award" and it ends with the epic "Cavity." The only pitfall is the mediocre cover of "Holiday in Cambodia" tied onto the end - no one can sing like Jello can and it ruins the perfect balance the first 4 tracks of the EP have. Get it anyway, but don't play Track 5.

this is in my opinion bsf's best effort yet, although it is only an ep and is oly 16 minutes long. cavity is an incredible song (and it is worth buying, even if only for that song) and there is a neat remake of holiday in campbodia. excellent lyrics throughout, both emotional and thought-provoking (which is a tough combo to do), and the instrumental side of the album is also very good. as much as i would reccomend this album to anyone, i would reccomend that you see them live even more strongly. they are so much fun and so positive; it is nice to go to see a hardcore show and notice that more people are smiling than bleeding.

This CD is by far the best sounding Boy Sets Fire up until this point. This CD was recorded in a studio in Conneticut where Diana Ross records. This CD entails a great mix of hard hitting harmonys and complex song structurs. But of course it's still hard hitting hardcore. This album also includes a great cover of "Holiday in cambodia". Also, I've heard the New "After the Eulogy", due out in April, and it's phenominal.

Best hardcore cd that I have ever purchased. Their cover of Holiday In Cambodia is better than the original done by the Dead Kennedys. Buy this cd no matter what!
