A Pleasure Read for Any Age.,

This review is from: The Chrysalis (Paperback)
Cynthia Davis is a wonderful story teller. The Chrysalis is a "feel good" book that anyone can appreciate. Especially a great book for teens and young adults struggling with figuring out who they are! Once you get half way through it you won't be able to put it down- so be prepared for a late night, and then a peaceful sleep. I can't wait for her next book.

Can't Miss With This One!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Chrysalis (Paperback)
If you like a fast-paced read packed with humor, then The Chrysallis is the book for you! You'll identify with Christina Brannigan from page one. She faces real-life problems with real-life emotions. She has a quick whit, a good mind and a loveble knack for finding disaster. Cynthia Davis masterfully weaves hot social topics into the plot to give the reader more than just entertainment. Your character can be strengthened along with Christina's as she discovers her purpose in life. The end will leave you wanting more. Let's hope a sequel is in the works!

I absolutely adored this story! Couldn't put it down. But I wish it hadn't ended like it did. The ending wasn't bad but I would have liked to see those two moving on and having a future. Awesome book, though. I'd recomend it to anyone as a quick read.

A book for every teenage girl,
This review is from: The Chrysalis (Kindle Edition)
I read this book right after it was first published when I was in 5th grade. I have never been a huge "reader," but the storytelling in this book had my attention glued to its pages. The characters and story are real and relatable and have the potential to affect readers in a way that teaches them life lessons and helps them sort through big questions about their lives. At the same time, it does this in a subtle way, not preaching and not with bias. It simply gives a real life scenario that can cause a young girl to take a second look at her life. I highly recommend this book to readers of any age, but particularly encourage people to pass this book along to the young girls in their lives that they love.

The quiet winner,
This review is from: The Chrysalis (Kindle Edition)
This is one of the good ones. A book written for young adults with the realities and stresses of those final years of high school and the search for purpose, identity and adventure. Christina is finishing up her junior year with nothing to show for it but good grades. She believes that a losing a few pounds and growing out her hair to a trendy style will make her "noticeable" and raise her chances of actually doing something noteworthy. Little did she know that her summer plans would change her life and her idea of what truly matters. The characters are richly developed, (I would love to spend time with Aunt Meg and cook with Annie)and the story line believable. It's been a long time since there has been a young adult novel that understands the bumps and questions of the teen years that treats it with compassion and honesty. All that without obscenities, torrid sex or vampires.. go figure. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Drink the Rain. I'd like to go to summer camp again : ).

Cynthia Davis' book The Chrysalis is the type of book that keeps you wanting more and excited for her next work. The story line carries smoothly and is recommended for both teens and adults. I found myself needing to get to the next chapter and was challenged in my personal life to be sure of what I believe.

Wonderful story with relateable main character,

This review is from: The Chrysalis (Paperback)
Davis' book The Chrysalis is a refreshing change from the current choice of fiction reading for young adults. With the lead character Christiana, the reader experiences many different situations and trials that most teenagers/young adults face some time in their lives. The narrative does not come off as preachy. The decisions that Christiana ultimately make over the course of the summer are well-thought out and commendable. I also enjoyed the metamorphosis that occurs with Christiana and how she realizes her worthiness through the different challenges she faces. I am eager to read the sequel "Drinking the Rain" to continue spending time with the characters from this book.

A little bit of all of us!,
By Jennifer (Hampton, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Chrysalis (Paperback)
Everytime I read this book it is an enjoyable experience. I keeps me on the edge of my seat everytime. There is a little bit of the main characer, Christina, in each of us. Not always saying or doing the right thing. Sometimes feeling really out of place and wondering how and why you ended in the situation you find yourself. When you read the book you find yourself laughing and crying right along with her. Every person, especially most teenagers, dream of going through this transformation and becoming a different person. Which is exactly what Christina did!
