5.0 out of 5 stars Great guitar TAB book of 16 famous Berry songs, August 9, 1998
By bremers@aol.com (Bellingham, Wa. (Between Seattle and Vancouver)) - See all my reviews
This Hal Leonard book of Chuck Berry music is a must have for any aspiring Rock and Roll guitarist. You get the exact E form boogie rhythm parts as well as the lead solos for the most famous Rock and Roll songs in History, "Johnny B. Goode", "Roll Over Beethoven", "Little Queenie" and 13 more. Also included are a glossary of the TAB conventions used and little trivia about the different songs, e.g. "Recorded by the Stones or the Beattles, etc. Finally this book is great because you get a real feel for Berry's poetic talent as well as an understanding of how Berry turned the Blues into Rock and Roll by changing the Rhythm and playing the two string double stops at lightening speed. "Maybe someday you'll see your name in lights saying 'Johnny B. Good Tonight!'". -John Bremer

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Note-for-Note Transcriptions of Original Chuck Berry, February 25, 2002
By Michael Behuniak (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
The guitar tablature in this book is 100% ACCURATE...

I am using this book with both 'Chuck Berry: The Great Twenty-Eight' and a CD looping program called 'Transkriber 2.0', which allows me to slow down the original recordings and repeat selected passages as necessary. After hours of working through several songs I can vouch for the complete authenticity of the guitar transcriptions, note for note.

And tell Tchaikovsky the news: Chuck Berry INVENTED Rock-and-Roll guitar...and Keith Richards, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Dave Davies, John Fogerty, Steve Vai, and Eddie Van Halen certainly got the news...

And if you too want to learn how to 'really' play Chuck Berry's songs and guitar riffs, as Chuck played them himself, get this terrific book!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. lr
