Like the other have said, this isn't beginner material. There are some high notes and there is some complex reading. Depending on the recording, it's what Mangione played. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's an expect or advanced book. There are some tunes that more difficult than others that require a solid player to pull them off well, but some aren't too bad. A decent high school player should be able to handle some of them--well, at least from decent band programs with somewhat dedicated players. I've encountered quite a few high school trumpet players than can manage this entire book.
If you're getting this for one or two songs, try a "fake book" first. You'll get A LOT more for your money if you do. If you're after "Feels So Good", I've seen it in several fake books before for instance. As for the "high notes", don't worry about it. I've seen video of live performances of Chuck not being able to hold onto the high notes and has taken them down. Remember, in many genres of music you don't have to play it exactly how you heard it the first time. Take the opportunity to rewrite it a little or even transpose it down. Just have fun with it!

Having played trumpet for almost 16 years now, this is a fun book to play and mess around with. Its an advanced to expert book because of the fact that it follows Mr. Mangione note by note throughout some of his most famous songs. Theres lots of high register stuff hitting C's and D's above the staff so do not buy this if your just starting out.

Feels so good ? Not for beginners,

The "Feels so good" part is written as a solo where very high notes are required, making it a difficult material to play by beginners. It does not include the original, orchestrated one, which is by far easier to play. "Bellavia" on another hand, is the original one and easy to interpret.
