Here's How to Chuckit!
There's a learning curve of 10-20 throws.
Find an open area, away from people, animals and buildings. With the ball in the Chuckit!, grip the handle firmly.
Techniques:
Aim High - the Chuckit! tends to throw the ball downward. Don't watch the Chuckit! while you throw. Instead, look where you want the ball to go.
Pick It Up
Holding the handle of the Chuckit!, place the ball claw over the tennis ball and press down firmly. The Chuckit! will grab the ball and hold on.

The best investment for dogs who love to fetch!,
By Ash1138 "www.myspace.com/ash1138" (Centennial, CO United States) - See all my reviews I own two Chuckit's. I have the large version featured here and also the small size version. I actually tend to use the small size more often because it's easier to control your throws and I'm not as often in an area where I can make use of the large size's range. The small size sill allows you to chuck it pretty darn far if you want. However, for when you are at a wide open area (like a park or beach) and you want the herculean ability to catapult a tennis ball to the outer limits of your dog, this large size Chuckit can't be beat. The light weight of a tennis ball makes it very difficult to throw long distances no matter how strong your arm strength is. Even throwing 40yrds gets strenuous over time, but with Chuckit, little more than the flick of a wrist will achieve that distance. Plus, the length of the product makes bending down to pick up slimey, slobbery, wet tennis balls a thing of the past.

Wears out the dog without hurting my shoulder,
By
This review is from: Chuckit! Ball Launcher (Colors Vary) (Kitchen)
There were two reasons I wanted a chuck it when we got our dog. Picking up gross, dirty, slobbery tennis balls is no fun and I have a bad shoulder. I have had three surgeries on my shoulder so my mobility with it is limited thus making throwing difficult. With the chuck it, I can throw a tennis ball across the entire dog park with a flick of the wrist. After the dog brings the ball back and drops it the tennis ball pushes back in to the chuck it and my hands never have to touch the ball.
It takes very little practice to learn how to use the chuck it and get the ball as far or as short as you want it to go. You can throw overhand, sidearm or underhand and get the results you want. The chuck it works with any standard size tennis ball and is made of thick durable plastic. A must have for dogs who love to fetch balls.

It's Not the Length of the ChuckIt; It's How You Use It,
The Chuck-it is perhaps the best dog toy since the Frisbee, especially for dogs who love to run long distances to retrieve. That describes our golden retriever, for one, a dog who almost prefers chasing tennis balls to eating. Now anyone can heave a ball a long, long way so that your dog gets a satisfying workout and a more challenging retrieval. Just pick up the supplied colored ball (or a substitute, as chances are you will lose it) raise your arm high over your head and back, then fling it forward, with a slight punch at or near the top of your swing. The ball will travel far and fast. It may take a few tries, but it's not too difficult to learn. With practice, you can aim the ball well, and control the distance and trajectory with fairly good accuracy (much more so than hitting a ball with a racket). The Chuck-it is flexible and I've never broken one. Of course, for very short distances, or for a more intimate connection with your pet, you can still pick up the dog-soaked ball and throw it yourself. Highly recommended!
