5.0 out of 5 stars great quality product, we use it every day
Everyone likes this toy. The dog gets more throws out of us, and we really like not having to touch the ball. The included ball is nice, but I'm happy the toy is designed to use any tennis ball. This short one fits in your back pocket easily, and it launches the ball very well. We might get the full size one this summer if we want to go to a bigger field, but this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Range not as long..
Slightly disappointed with the short range this throws the ball. I purchased to use with my golden retriever and wasn't much of a challenge for him because it didn't launch the ball far enough. I've used the standard size chuckers in the past and they have much better range. This one might be better suited for a small dog where long distance isn't the priority.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Love Love Love it!, May 21, 2010

I got this in addition to the full-size Chuckit that I already had. The biggest reason was that the full-size was great for the dog park, but not so great for my medium sized back yard. I kept launching tennis balls into my neighbor's pool and it was getting embarrassing having to go and ask to retrieve them.

I've been using the Pocket Chuckit for about a week now and it's awesome. It works well in my backyard and I've actually taken it to the dog park once. It launches the ball reasonably far, not as far as the full-size, but the portability of it more than makes up for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars CHEAP FUN, March 18, 2009

My mixed breed medium size dog is very energetic. I walk him and his same sized female sidekick faithfully each day. She is relaxed most of the time, but he still has a great deal of energy. I'm using the chuckit to give him more active playtime and it seems to be working very well. I walked him after a chuckit session and he was very well behaved, not pulling on the leash as much as he usually does.
He's having fun and I enjoy the game also.

5.0 out of 5 stars More practical than the full-sized one, September 13, 2009

I prefer the pocket launcher over the full-sized one as I can throw it in my back-pack or even put it in my jeans pockets when we go places. If your dog is just a back-yard dog, you may not need the smaller size, but for an active adventure dog, this is a GREAT product. I use it with racquet balls a lot for my medium sized dog, since tennis balls are like sand paper for your dog's teeth. Less dirt/sand swallowing, less saliva, higher bounce.
I just wish you could pick the color. Who in the world would ever go and knowingly purchase that ugly green?!?!??!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone should have this on hand if you have a dog that chases balls, June 13, 2009

Awesome lil ball thrower. Bought it not expecting much, but really suprised. My dog will run till she drops chasing balls and my arms get tired- this is a gem of a relief on me. If you have a retriever- buy one of these- will save your back not bending over to pick up ball. Well made will buy more of them

Bought one of these for my yellow lab. He absolutely loves it. I can probably throw an additional 20-30 feet, but my wife can probably double her throwing distance. It makes it very easy on the arm too. I'd recommend getting the glow in the dark ball & the whistler ball too. The one that is supposed to bounce all over the place doesn't really work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Saved my elbows, November 11, 2011

A few months ago I adopted a 9 month old border collie/lab mix who has endless energy. Fortunately she loves to play fetch so we can TRY to wear her out with this activity. The problem was that within a few weeks of adopting her, my throwing arm ached like crazy. I didn't know launchers even existed when I turned to the internet to solve my problem, but my husband is an engineer so I decided if I couldn't find something, I would ask him to design one. Well, it didn't take long to find the Chuck-It and I ordered two of them - the long one and the mini.

Side note: my 13YO son was unaccountably excited when he heard I'd ordered a ball launcher and surprisingly disappointed when it arrived. It turns out, he had visions of rocket launchers and had envisioned a machine that would launch the ball out of sight and couldn't wait to see it in action. His disappointment was in its simplicity and the fact it would require actual manual effort on our part to get it to work. LOL.

I, however, am NOT disappointed. I use the mini most of the time and love how far I can throw the ball without my arm aching at all. It was so easy to learn to use and with a little practice I am accurate enough to hit a tree (if I want to) with it so the ball goes exactly where I want it to, every time. My dog LOVES the launcher. She starts dancing in circles as soon as she sees me pick it up.

One of the best features of the launcher is that I no longer have to handle a soggy ball. When she drops the ball at my feet, all I do is scoop it back up in the launcher and throw it again. At the end of the session, I scoop it up and it lives in the launcher until the next session. This is such an incredible bonus they should charge extra for it.

My husband is better with the long one. I find it harder to get the ball to release in time so it doesn't go as far for me as with the mini. I know its just a learning curve and I need to learn to flick my wrist back slightly to release it at the best time, but I'll confess I haven't taken the time to practice this. Also, the large one, having so much longer a handle tends to flex when I try to pick up the ball so its actually harder to do this. I would like to try the in-between size to see if I can throw the ball further than with the mini but still pick the ball up easily.

Love the Chuck-it products, Have the larger Chuck-it Jr as well.

The Pocket launcher is great for our back yard , with little effort I can toss the ball over 100 feet. We have a mini-Schnoodle that is crazy about playing fetch, he could keep going until my arm fell off. In larger spaces I prefer the longer Jr.Launcher which I have no problem hitting the outfield fence from the pitchers mound of our local little league field so I can only imagine what the full size launcher can do! My daughter and I both appreciate the fact we don't have to handle the slobber covered and wet tennis balls. For smaller spaces the pocket launcher is all you need.

My dog is hard on balls and the solid Ultra-ball stands up best to his rough play and chewing, also there is no fuzz like the standard tennis balls on the Ultra ball which is a huge advantage in the humid dew covered mornings of the north east.

Great item!! (: Bought this one because it was shorter and can fit easily in my purse or bag when i go to the dog park. Even though its small it still throws very far and less stress on your arm. Although it doesnt throw as far as the bigger chuckits. It throws far enough for my dog to be quite happy(:
