4.0 out of 5 stars
Almost Perfect, March 1, 2006
This review is from: The Chumscrubber [Original Motion Picture Score] (Audio CD)
I've awarded the soundtrack 4 stars instead of 5 merely because it is missing one vital piece: Sleep Song by Rooney in which a character of the film, Troy, committed suicide to. I know a lot of viewers were searching for this pivotal track, so there you have it.
Otherwise, I find the tracks on this cd to be incredibly substantial, if not expertly compiled. Snow Patrol's Run is a definite standout, both melancholy and sweeping. Placebo's Pure Morning along with the 3 other modern rock/alternative tracks are all very fitting of the film's raw and even mordibly comedic subject material.
Those notable selections combined with the James Horner's ever-magnificent scoring ability ("Dolphins" and "Digging Montage" are the most impressive instrumentals in my opinion) provide for a memorable soundtrack, and one that successfully holds its somewhat obscure mood all the way through.
