Hey all:

Please check out this debut record from Onithsa, just out on Still Waters, the inspirational imprint from Hidden Beach. She has sung background vocals for Mary Mary and is now stepping out on her own. Shep Crawford produced most of the record and his hands are all over this. Stand out cuts to me included, Lay Your Trouble Down, This is Serious, He Is, My Story, My Life. All in all do yourself a favor and check "O" out, she is sure to delight....

I went into a gospel music store just looking around to see what I can find. The Lord led me to find this cd and on my way to work, I was pleasantly surprised. I am 24 years old and I'm always looking for something appealing to the younger gospel audiences, not taking anything from the traditional and spiritual gospel that I grew up on. I love the way she incorporates youthful sounds, as well as traditional gospel. I'll be looking for future releases from Ms. Onitsha!!!!

Normally if the CD is not 5 stars, I don't write a review for it, but this is an impressive debut from the former background singer for Mary Mary and their influence is evident in the production. I first heard two of her songs on Pastor Marvin Winans Sunday morning radio show and gave the disc a try. What we have here is a 70% contemporary neo-soul gospel, 30% inspirational disc that is banging musically and gives you lyrics that show the young lady has a heart for God, but understands the everyday struggle. Only the interludes keep this from 5 stars in my opinion. Think of Onitsha as a cross between Kiki Sheard and early Lisa McClendon (My Diary, Your Life) with Badu like vocals. I consider this disc 4 & 1/2 stars worth of good. This is the early leader in the clubhouse for newcomer of the year for 07'.

When I first purchased this CD, I took an initial listening, but I wasnt paying a lot of attention. So when I was on my way to work the next morning, I played it in the car... Where do I start the lyrics are spiritual but talk to everyday situations. The music is on point. I love the duet she did with Mahalia Jackson (Search Me Lord) basically the producer took an old track and she song along with the track, but it was produced very well. I like all the tracks, but the stand out tracks for me are My Life, Lay Your Trouble Down, This One, God is on Our SIde...Purchase this CD you will be glad you did.

I was downloading on I-tunes, and this ANGEL popped up, and I listened to the sample of this CD. I thought, who is this. Well, please know that although I did not know about this artist this CD is AWESOME. And I am often called Church Girl, by many of my friends. (And believe me I claim that title, with much pride) But anyway, this CD will bless you. Onitsha blends Gospel with this rhythm that will free your mind and heart of all distractions. After listening to this CD you will be inspired to let your hair down and just be the true you in Christ that HE intended for you to be. Her ability to truly just be herself in her GOD given musical talents will bless and inspire you.

Onitsha this entire album is incomplete fiyah I'm ready for album #2 because this album was to unbelievable I can't stop listening to you. The only words to say O is that you are a beast and your voice is irreplaceable stay blessed and always remain talented.

I just purchased this album on Monday, October 25, 2010; didn't know who Onitsha was until I was searching Itunes for some new gospel projects (outside of the regulars) and I came across this EXCELLENT project! This album has been in heavy rotation in my vehicle and on my Ipod since Monday! Definitely an excellent investment!

Album a lil too contemporary at times for me, but overall i like it. Like the raspy voice

Onitsha "The Church Girl" is a must have c.d. If you love gospel, but like to have different styles, great beats, and amazing lyrics, then she is the one you need to support. I can't believe I hadn't heard about her before, but now that I have she is definitely a favorite c.d. I play weekly!

Onitsha is very talented and the CD is very uplifting--knows how to get you moving! I truly love it--I listen to it everyday, in car, at work and at home.
