4.0 out of 5 stars Church in the Wildwood
This generational novella collection traces the feud between the Campbells and the Randalls in the Missouri Ozarks. Starting in 1869 in the book Leap of Faith, the family feud begins while the community builds a stone church in Hickory Hollow. You will want to find out what Amanda Hodges has to do with fueling the feud. In Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy, Forest Tounsend...

1.0 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Time
I love Christian Fiction and usually can't wait to get my hands on these wonderful 4-in-1 books. However, this set was a total waste of time. It was corny, and very poorly written. An example of corny would be the 7 children's names in book two - the oldest boy's name is Peesultree. I'm not kidding. This poor soul was followed by Gladly, Shirley, Moses, Mordecai, and...

This poor soul was followed by Gladly, Shirley, Moses, Mordecai, and Milcah. In book one, there is a kidnapping by the notorious James gang complete with Jesse and Frank. From the way the book is written, it seems to me that someone wrote a very sketchy out-line and then these 4 ladies were given a week or two to spit out a book. I'd say it seemed like a 7th grader wrote it, but then I've read some very good work by 7th graders. The relationships between the men and women in these stories were just boring. The women were immature, sniping and whiny. The men were self-involved, condecending and annoying. If I could give this less than 1 star, I would. You would be much better off reading anything at all by Janette Oke, Lauraine Snelling or Tracie Peterson.

In Shirley, Goodness, and Mercy, Forest Tounsend arrives in Hickory Hollow in 1894 to become the pastor of the church started by Shirley Campbell?s grandfather. How can this big city pastor fit into the life of this mountain town, and how can he fit into Shirley?s life? Only a Name tells the story of Eva Hargrove in the 1950s. Will she marry the man her father wants her to, a man who doesn?t understand the importance of the church, or will she follow her heart to Robert Campbell? April Russell in Cornerstone must find a way to reach the heart of Matthew Campbell, who wants to pull down the church built by their ancestors so long ago.
