Received as a requested gift this 20 piece set and while it's pleasant enough, it is not what was advertised. The description clearly states that the dinnerware is "Made in England." Now I realize it's been a long time since I've been in school but I'm somehow sure that Colombia hasn't become part of the United Kingdom (England) and all of these dishes say "Made in Colombia" on the bottom. I am disappointed.

It is disappointing to be lied to so blatently. The pieces are nice for the price though. When they say "a lighter, more contemporary feel" they mean a thinner, less substantial feel. The bowls are on the small side and it is a small bread and butter plate, not a salad plate. Oh well.

Our daughter is getting married and her birthday is the end of this month, so her grandmother sent her a 20-piece set as a surprise birthday present. We have been researching the story of Blue Willow Ware and this is a great example of deep cobalt blue transferware, along with having a flute-flair around the edges. Nice quality! She was, of course, delighted! Mom & Dad

Disappointed - Blue Willow 20-Piece Dinnerware Set

I was very excited about getting these dishes, but once they arrived I was greatly disappointed. I read reviews before purchasing them and placed alot of faith in them. When I opened my dishes (3 sets of service for 4), the picture was runny on all of the dinner plates, some of the glaze was not on all the dishes, so it was rough and some had dents and bumps on them. Poorly manufactured to say the least. They were from Colombia on the back. The reviews I had read were from Malaysia. I don't know if that made a difference, but no one mentioned dishes from Colombia. I returned them. Amazon was very kind and understanding and refunded my money immediately. This did not influence me in a negative way to use Amazon.com. I have bought many things off of Amazon and they have always been very easy to deal with and I think they are great. I ended up buying the dishes from DishesDecorAndMore.com who order it from Johnson Brothers. The dishes are beautiful and I have been enjoying them tremendously. The bowls are a little small too me, but all in all I am so glad I ordered them from there. They were also a bit more in price, but much better quality.

I bought these dishes at Ross 2 years ago. I really loved them for everyday dishes. Last week, I saw another review on Amazon, saying that her dishes tested positive for lead! I bought a lead tester and sure enough, this morning the dishes tested positive for lead in the glaze.

We are shocked and devastated! I am getting rid of the dishes, of course. Lead is a very poisonous substance.

I went and bought 12 white dishes from Pottery Barn this afternoon. I'm going to test them too! I am disappointed that Amazon is selling dishes with lead leaching from the glaze.

I ordered two sets for my father as a Christmas gift. When I opened them one box was perfect but one box contained 3 dinner plates that had a smudged print. I returned that set and requested a replacement. The replacement set had the same problem (2 plates with a smudged print). I ended up returning both sets and buying a set locally due to the time frame. Too close to Christmas to wait.

I wish I would have read the subject about geography in product reviews, as I was so disappointed in the finish and to see "Made in Columbia" stamped on the bottom of my Made in England china. What's your exchange policy for a quality product that is as it is described?

When I was a little girl my Grandmother had two Blue Willow plates one pink and one blue. They were used only when my brother and I visited. My Grandmother and brother are no longer with us and we have no idea what became of the plates. When I received my set they were so beautiful and well made that it brought back memeories of times of yesteryear when we were all together. I would recommend this set to anyone who loves beautiful things.

Product came in perfect condition. Meet my expectations. Arrived in a timely manner.

I purchased this set last year, not realizing that the dishes were a product of Malaysia. They did not match the pieces that I currently had - from England - that I was trying to match. I ended up sending them back, very disappointed.
