Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Serve a tall, cool pitcher of milk to pour over cereal in the morning or to drink alongside dinner in the evening with this elegant 3/4-quart milk jug. The Finlandia pattern is inspired by Scandinavian designs and has been in production for more than 100 years, making it a nearly timeless classic. The pitcher is constructed of high-fire earthenware in England and is decorated with a centuries-old technique of transfer printing. The underglaze-printed motif is a white background enlivened with a swirling blue floral pattern that is as fresh as a warm spring breeze in the English countryside.

The pitcher features an elegant and elaborate swooping handle that leaves plenty of room for a hand to grasp and pour easily. A gently sloped spout allows milk to pour smoothly into waiting glasses without spills, and a wide base allows for solid resting on the table. The pitcher is safe for use in both the microwave and the dishwasher, making it easy to use everyday or for more special occasions. Use alone or as part of a collection of Finlandia accessories. --Jeff Dalto

Product Description

Finlandia is one of the world's most enduring china patterns, this pattern has remained in production for over 100 years. Some of its appeal comes from its classic blue & white colouration, its Scandinavian inspired design never looks outdated. The swirling contours of the pieces add interest along with its floral design elements and together they project a great sense of symmetry & orderliness. This is a pattern that can be at ease for casual meals and charmingly fresh for more formal occasions. Finlandia dinnerware is produced by utilising the centuries old art of transfer printing from original engravings. Each Piece is processed and handled at least 50 times before it is finally made ready for our customers. This vintage feel is applied to the 0.75qt Milk Jug. Manufactured in fine English Earthenware, Finlandia Dinnerware products are both Microwave & Dishwasher safe. This collection is endorsed by Churchill China with its 200 years of history in the manufacture of dinnerware for the home.

1.0 out of 5 stars A pale shadow, January 10, 2009

This review is from: Churchill China Finlandia Milk Jug (Kitchen)
I was given the milk jug and the gravy boat for Christmas 2008. The gravy boat was made in England, the milk jug in Columbia. The milk jug is a pale shadow of the original English pattern. Here's the problem: Churchill moved their operations to Columbia. The quality of the china coming from Columbia is not anything like the quality of the china that used to be manufactured in England. The transfers are sketchy, the colors are off, the glaze cracks with the least provocation. How very sad. I had a conversation with a Churchill representative two years ago, in which he assured me that the quality issues at the Columbian site were being corrected. Apparently not. I first purchased this pattern 25 years ago when it was made by Myott and then replaced it again in the 1990's when Churchill re-released it and was still manufacturing it in England. Pity that it is now made so poorly in Columbia. My advice: only buy this product if it is made in England. Reputable china dealers will list the country of origin so customers can make informed decisions. Amazon should do the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to Finlandia collection, January 6, 2008
This review is from: Churchill China Finlandia Milk Jug (Kitchen)
I bought this milk pitcher for my Mother - it is a great addition to her Finlandia collection. It's not too big or clumsy and has a beautiful shape. In addition to milk, it's also great for serving juice. I especially love seeing it out on the kitchen table for brunch!
