This set is beautiful! The scalloping texture detail on all of the pieces (especially the graceful teacups) is not so evident in the product images but makes this affordable complete service for 4 even prettier than I anticipated. I always received my tableware as gifts, and though they were very nice, I never got to choose a pattern of my own, so this being my first, I am very pleased to say that it is truly stunning. The pieces don't look like it, but they are both microwave and dishwasher safe, and heavy, sturdy thick pieces with an intense glossiness. I was not very comfortable ordering such fragile items via mail order, and even though my UPS delivery person was a bit rough with the box-even laying it down "bottoms up" on my floor while I gently informed him that there was china in it, but the box was packed in such a way that the pieces fit snugly and were individually wrapped and protected so that it could take a lot of abuse. Just don't drop the box-that could be fatal! I am thrilled with my first set of beautiful "real" china and though it looks too pretty to use every day, that is my intention, as it is good china, but not the "good" china that rarely sees food and gathers dust that must be hand washed!
