Churchin According To Dottie,
By Lisa M. Smith (Philadelphia, Pa USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Churchin (Audio CD)
Although I had higer expectations of Dottie Peoples newest release "Churchin With Dottie." This is not a bad album it does have some good accomplishments. It holds its own distinctive sounds of traditional soul gospel music. The album opens with an exciting hand clapping selection on track 1 "Enter His Gates." On "Get Right Church" Dottie and Rev. Jasper Williams takes us back to our most glorious days in the church. Rev. Williams gives this selection a boost with some good old fashioned preaching, and singing. On "God's Giving Us More Time" offers a senitive reflection on that tradgic day of September 11, 2001. The music works quite well on this selection.Overall Dottie's newest CD "Churchin With Dottie" works well. The musical content holds its own distinctive style of Dottie's music. I enjoyed this album because of its good sounds of tradition. It's a good album and well worth the investment. Dottie Peoples fans will enjoy her new release. "Churchin With Dottie."

Dottie Peoples Outdid Her Best (God Can & God Will, 1999),
By Raymond Myers (San Francisco, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Churchin (Audio CD)
WHOO!! This album is so good! I thought her 1999 album, 'God Can & God Will' was her peak performance, but Dottie proved she could do better than that. And that was a lot to outdue. I love this album, and every single track holds its own message that really speaks out to you. Standout tracks includes:Track 1. 'Enter His Gates' is a fast, uplifting, foot-stomping song with Dottie and the choir singing out to God. Once you hear the song you'll want to get up and praise God and dance to the music. Another standout is Track 8, 'He can Work It Out'. All I can say about this song is, it is POWERFUL and too good! I simply cannot get enough of this song. Dottie Peoples used her strong voice to let people know that whatever you may be going through, God will work it out for you. Track 10, 'God's Giving Us Time', reflects on the tragic day of 9/11/2001 and how quickly your life can end. The song tells you that God is giving people from all around the world time to get saved and get their house in order. This is a powerful song that I believe is the best of all the tracks. Track 14, 'Staying In The Will' is also a REALLY good song in which Dottie shows her faith and devotion to God. All in all, this is one EXCELLENT album. Dottie Peoples excelled herself in every way possible. Frankly, I don't think she can get any better than this. But, that's what I said about her 1999 album and she proved she could excel that masterpiece. Hopefully, her next album can beat this one.
