5.0 out of 5 stars One of the great voices of our time
When I first heard Charlie Zaa's performance on "Ciego de Amor," I was struck by how his voice reminded me of that of Johnny Mathis, another great vocalist. But Charlie will never walk in anyone's shadow; he is an outstanding performer, and this romantic album is a superb showcase for his talent.

This is a collection of romantic ballads with a fast-tempo track...

2.0 out of 5 stars Charly Zaa lost his sound
This album was overproduced by Emilio Estefan, and the sound that was charlie Zaa has been completely erased so that he sounds like elevator music

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the great voices of our time, November 5, 2000
This review is from: Ciego De Amor (Audio CD)
When I first heard Charlie Zaa's performance on "Ciego de Amor," I was struck by how his voice reminded me of that of Johnny Mathis, another great vocalist. But Charlie will never walk in anyone's shadow; he is an outstanding performer, and this romantic album is a superb showcase for his talent.

This is a collection of romantic ballads with a fast-tempo track at the end. Charlie's wonderfully expressive voice is accompanied by lush orchestrations. And what a voice! Heartbreakingly pure and clear, Charlie's voice is a perfectly tuned instrument which this vocalist employs with great skill. His phrasing of the album's Spanish lyrics is both delicate and passionate; seldom has the richness and beauty of this language been so effectively displayed.

If you love contemporary Latin music, this is an indispensable addition to your collection. Let Charlie tease, delight, and ultimately seduce you with his excellent renditions of these beautiful songs. "Ciego de Amor" is one to be played again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars I was captured by his wonderful voice., March 10, 2000
This review is from: Ciego De Amor (Audio CD)
This cd was the first Charlie Zaa album that I have ever listened to. I picked it up in a music stored while I was in Florida. While I was in the store, I was able to hear a sample. I heard only a few seconds of the first song and I was hooked. The way that Charlie sings and pronounces the words of the songs is very relaxing. I truly enjoy listening to this cd. If you enjoy soft, calming music, then you will love this album. I also enjoy that fact that there is only one fast song to finish out this album. This fast song has a great beat. The rest of the tracks are beautiful ballads. I think that this is a must for someone who loves Spanish ballads.

5.0 out of 5 stars He just keeps getting better, April 22, 2000

I saw Charlie en vivo in San Francisco a while back and had to wait to see his performance because he was delayed. It was worth the wait. He is among the new Latin singers that are reconstituting classical Latin pop in a way that respects what was there -- yet will bring many new converts to the lovely sound of boleros and balladas. Get this album.
