5.0 out of 5 stars They got it right!, September 5, 2006
This review is from: Cielo: Paradizo (Dig) (Audio CD)
I am sold on Kinkysweet! Granted, some of the Bargrooves/Afterdarks start to sound alike, with a few great tracks mixed in.BUT, this 2 disc project renewed my commitment! No interruption between songs, pure freshness. Great for travel, relaxation, workout, anything!

Jaw droppingly stunning deep house! I live just a few blocks from the club in New York and this is one of the few cd's produced by nightclubs that match the amazing quality that comes out of the club itself. It's deep, it's groovy, it's sultry, and oh-so-good. The first cd is quite sublime but is not too slow-a perfect blend of deep and soulful grooves with a hint of chill. The second cd gives you the shivers from how amazing it is-you'll want to get up and groove no matter where you are when you are listening to it.

OK it IS deep house, but it's so deep it should really be considered... Megadeep? I mean the tracks on this cd compilation are so laid back and loungy that they sound more like stuff remixed off the Love Boat soundtrack from '82. BUT that isn't necessarily bad.

I gave this set 5 stars because for this ultra deep house category it is perfect. It seriously kicks the polyester out of any other loungy mixes I've heard. Or should I say it strokes the polyester off other mixes.

Anyway, I'd rather call this mix Deep Lounge and remove the word House, since it's even loungier than Sharam and Dubfires amazing GU025 after club mixes (those two at least progressed into real house for a bit). Then again maybe that's a bad comparison.

Overall I'd think of this mix as a cross between "After Club", "Deep House" and an Aquanote CD.

That being said, if "Chill Out 70s Lounge" is the style of laid back electronic music you are looking for then look no further, since this CD is well thought out and delivers some great beautiful tracks on time.

Not only is this one of the best vocal and instrumental deep house mix collection I've ever owned, but it's also got a unique aspect that sets it apart. Disc 1 contains all the vocal house tracks, and with the exception of a few vocal snippets, Disc 2 is all instrumental. You would normally think this would not work, and that a few vocal, then a few instrumental breaking things up would be the best flow, however DJ's Nicolas Matar and Willie Graff have picked a stellar line-up of tracks for both discs, and each play very well on their own.

Highlights on disc 1 include the soulful Bag U Should by Quizz Feat. Emilie Chick, and one of the hottest vocal tracks of the past year, The Cure & The Cause (Dennis Ferrer Remix) by Fish Go Deep feat. Tracey K. Some very sweet melodic tunes appear on disc 2, like Julien Jabre's gorgeous track Swimming Places and Kerri Chandler's So Let the Wind Come.

A do not miss CD if you are looking for a perfect blend of vocal and instrumental deep house. Whether's it's one you prefer over the other, you'll have an easy time of picking which one, with them each having their own disc. Also, this is easily the best mix out of the 3 Cielo mixes by the same two DJ's (the other two are Cielo-Cloud 9 and Cielo-Seventh Heaven).

4.0 out of 5 stars Paradizo Found, November 3, 2006

For those of you who are familiar with the first disc in this series you will not be disappointed! It is another stellar selection from your 2 favourite resident DJ's at Cielo in New York City. The Cielo sound is for the mature house fanatic looking for sophisticated sounds that have vibe, soul and structure. This is real music that is lush enough for the living room and bumpin' enough for the grooviest dancefloors never verging on watered down commercial club pop. However if you are looking for jackin' repetitive beats that whack you over the head for 70 minutes this is not for you. I am ultra selective these days about the beats I feed my stereo and if you are looking for a great set of MUSIC that won't be the flavour of the week just say yes to Paradizo. If you fall in love with this package definitely pick up the first Cielo set, it is just as good if not better than this one.
